      A:  Hi Dave, the 6" basin works with 4' single wall corrugated pipe and will provide a proper connection. The installer can always apply a bead of waterproof silicone or adhesive to the outlet and or the pipe creating a seal between the outlet and pipe.

          Q:How do I connect 4" PVC pipe? It was loose when I connected, but I thought there was enough pipe sticking into the box so that it wouldn't matter, but with the strong rains we are having, it is leaking out of the joint too much for my liking.

          A:  Hi GutterDrainge, the 4" PVC Sch40 pipe will have a loose connection. Installer can apply a bead of silicone or adhesive to create a seal between the pipe and outlet. The best pipe connection is to use a 4" S&D SDR 35 pipe.

            A:  This is not used for 4” pvc pipe it is used for corrugated drain pipe.  Best way to seal. The leak is to use mastic tape o gorilla duct tape.

                Q:If you are dealing with a lot of tree roots that have compromised your drainage system the corrugated pipe won't help because the roots just cork screw into the pipe. What do you have that is smooth wall that will fit the Speed D with a good fit?

                A:  Hi SFarrell, all pipes are susceptible to tree root intrusion. NDS does not manufacture pipe. The following pipes will fit the Spee-D basin 3" & 4" pipe, Sewer and Drain SDR35 pipe, HDPE Triple Wall pipe and Single Wall Corrugated pipe. If you are having root intrusion, contact your local tree service company or your local plumber on how to treat root intrusion.

                  Q:So if this is supposed to fit 3 and 4" Triple wall drainage pipe ,WHY does the 4" pipe I'm trying to connect NOT fit over the tabs for the 3" connection. The I.D of this unit are larger so it's impossible to connect a 4" PVC Pipe to it! Any suggestions ?

                  A:  Hi PipeDope, 4" Triple wall pipe Model# 4550010 will connect to the Spee-D catch basin, make sure to remove the bell end. Also, 4" Sch. 40 PVC pipe will not connect to the catch basin. The outlets on our 6" Spee-D Catch Basin are designed to fit a variety of pipe types and pipe sizes. If the connection between the pipe and the outlet is loose, apply a bead of waterproof silicone to both the pipe and the outlet and then connect the two. The silicone will hold the pieces together and create a waterproof seal
