Q:Is Miracle Sealant safe to use when you have a septic system?

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Watson, yes, our Miracle Sealants Tile and Stone Cleaner is septic safe. As with any cleaner, there could be a slight bacteria disruption if excessive quantities were poured directly down the drain at one time, but for normal use it will not cause issues. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

    by|Sep 18, 2020

A:  If this goes down your septic system, then you are using it wrong. This is applied to stone and soaks in to seal your grout and tile. It would only go down the drain in tiny amounts. There is nothing in this that would cause harm to a septic system.

Q:Will this work on man-made ceramic slate interior floor tile?

            Answer This Question

A:  Great question Roberto! Rust-Oleum Miracle Sealants Tile & Stone Cleaner is a pH neutral cleaner designed for all tile, stone, grout and masonry surfaces, including slate. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

            by|Jun 8, 2020

A:  Hi Roberto, This was used by multiple granite installers and also by our porcelain tile installers. We have used it for routine cleaning for 2+ decades. I would assume it will work on most surfaces. If your man-made slate is porous I would probably call the company to insure that it wont affect your slate. The material, depending on the concentration, will leave a slight haze on surfaces which is easily removed with a dry cloth or mop. The directions mention this.

              Answer This Question

A:  I don't know but I doubt it. Sealer is made to wick into the porous surface, not sit on the top of the grout.

Q:Is it safe on Terra Cotta pavers?

                Answer This Question

A:  We are using it on stone tile floors. We do not have any Terra Cotta pavers on which to test this.

                by|Feb 20, 2020

A:  I have only used it for tile and it is the best cleaner I have used. I found it leaves the tile with a nice finish. But it does say stone cleaner. I suggest that you call the manufacturer to check if it is safe for Terra Cotta pavers.

Q:Recently moved into our house. Half of the exterior window sills are limestone or a similar cut stone. The more exposed sills have black stains. Might be mildew or possibly just dirt. I haven't tried anything on the stone e.g. bleach or TSP for fear of making a simple problem worse. I've read most of the Q's and A's for this product and they mostly apply to interior tile and showers, etc. Has anyone has used this product on the type of problem I've described? Thanks for your time.

A:  This product is great for gentle cleaning of any type of natural stone so it won't harm anything if you try it and it doesn't work. I had a problem with a little bit of mold in one of the showers and I used a product made by MarbleLife (go to MarbleLife.com and look for their mold & mildew remover.) I used it on my travertine and it was just a matter of a couple of sprays, a five minute wait then rinse and the mold vanished. A bit pricey but one bottle will last a long time.

A:  Actually, we use the tile and stone cleaner on our recently rebuilt master shower, after it was recommended by the tile man who did the work. We use it to clean the tile and it also helps in preventing mold.

A:  WATER - Of course, the first thing I'd try is plain water and a soft bristle brush to scrub it with. It could simply be an accumulation of outside dirt which may wash away easily, especially if it was sealed with a waterproof sealer. CLOROX CLEANUP - If that doesn't remove the dirt, I'd try something like Clorox Cleanup spray on a section to see whether it yielded results, again massaging it with the soft bristle brush and then rinsing. My downstairs has 1800 sq. ft of natural travertine flooring and I have used bleach successfully to remove stains from the stone with no damage to the stone. TSP - Regarding TSP, I'd be very cautious. TSP has a solvent aspect to it that is great for cleaning grime off painted walls, but may leave a dull, porous result afterwards. Exactly what you'd want if you are getting ready to paint and want a porous surface to grab the paint. But I don't know that I'd try that except as a last resort, but this would for sure require a clear exterior sealer afterwards to protect the stone and restore shine. 409 CLEANER AND DEGREASER spray - Another cleaner that is great for removing dirt and grime without etching is 409 spray. It works fast. Spray, wait a minute, scrub, and rinse. This may be all you need. ELIMINATE SHOWER TUB AND TILE CLEANER - Now, if you really need to actually go deep, Eliminate spray cleaner will strip the scum, dirt and the top layer of the minerals from the stone and grout, often making it look brand new. However, since it literally takes a microscopic layer off of the stone, the stone then must be sealed with a clear, exterior rated stone sealer to make it waterproof and prevent this from happening again. Once you get the limestone clean and sealed, it should take nothing more than a good spray with the garden hose to make it look fresh again. Hope that helps!

A:  This is not a good item for limestone. It is not made to clean or polish limestone. We had limestone floors throughout our 3500 sq ft home. Our master bathroom was all limestone including our shower, floors and vanities. There is a specific item made to clean, polish and refurbish limestone. Sorry but I do not remember the name but you can search for it on Google.

A:  It will work fine on the exterior. We use several cases of this product per month for years. Never had a problem with the product. Not sure if it will get rid of all of the mildew, but it will lighten.

A:  Very unlikely. This, like other surface cleaners, will clean dirt on the surface. The same company, as do others, make deep cleaners (containing mild acids and/or abrasives) that may work or damage your stone.

A:  I am sorry I do not know and I no longer have the container to look on the directions to see if there is a warning. You should be able at go on the manufactures website and get that information.

A:  Natural bluestone is not listed on the product list as one of the materials to use the cleaner on although "natural stone" is. With that said, it might be worth contacting the manufacturer, ,Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm PT. 1-626-443-6433 or 1-800-350-1901 • Fax: 1-626-443-1435, website: www.miraclesealants.com to see if they can give you the information you require.
