Q:I used this saw arbor along with a Milwaukee hole saw to make a circle in hardwood oak. It was not easy. Needed to pull out my corded drill. Right as the hole finally popped out, the bit fell out of the arbor. It looks like the bit fell out clean, it didn't crack. Almost like it got twisted out. I try to put the bit back in but it won't stay. Is this normal? Any ideas on how I can fix this? This was the first and only time I used the saw arbor.

A:  I'm back the next day to answer my own question: turns out that if you lower the arbor mechanism, it reveals a hex stop collar (or whatever it's called). Put the bit back in, then tighten the bolt with a hex wrench (SAE, I don't recall the size). I figured this out on my own literally as I was on hold calling Milwaukee customer support.

      by|Aug 19, 2020

A:  Take it back to where you bought it, should be a Milwaukee Rep. who will either replace it or tell you what you need to do

        by|Nov 15, 2020

A:  There is an allen wrench set screw on the body of the arbor that secures the bit that can be tightened to resolve your problem.

          Answer This Question

A:  @justgrier, any tips to get enough leverage? I have the correct allen wrench, but screw won't budge for me.

          by|Jun 8, 2020

A:  if your arbor is the same as mine, use a 4mm allen wrench, turn counter clockwise, and the set screw should come out. that will release the pilot bit.

            by|Jun 5, 2020

A:  I'm not sure why the set screw isn't coming out, try inserting your screwdriver into it and give it a slightly harder than usual tap. If that doesn't work, return it to where you purchased it

            by|Nov 15, 2020

A:  It takes an Allen wrench to loosen bit. It's a set screw just below the threads Its definitely tight but thats how you want it so it holds bit well.

A:  Take it to the store. I don’t know how long the warranty is but I do know that The Home Depot is good about returns.

              by|Oct 16, 2019

A:  I'm not sure about the warranty. What I do is take my Milwaukee tools to the rep at the store to see if there is anything he/she came do for me. But usually with bits, drill attachments, etc They usually won't cover it unless its brand new.

A:  As long as the bit lines up to the holding posts on the pilot drill bit you should do fine. You can do a check fit in the store with the Hardware isle personnel.

A:  If this is the hole saw I think it is, then I don't think it will fit. The center drill would have to be 1/4" and have the "groove" in the shank.

A:  I have never used a hole saw in an impact driver. Usually, for boring holes in masonry, you need a diamond device. It's moot anyway. A 3/8" hex arbor will not fit in a 1/4" chuck.

A:  I've never heard of a 7/16" chuck, but then I don't know everything. Usually the progression of chucks is 1/4", 3/8", 1/2". The 3/8" will fit in a 1/2" but it may be too slow; as the chuck sizes get larger, the speed get slower.

A:  You need to purchase separate arbors for each size.

A:  The pilot bit that comes with the 49-56-7250 arbor is designed for wood, plastic and metal. For materials like cement board, tile, fiberglass, brick and block use carbide tipped pilot bit model 49-56-8005.

A:  No. It is designed for wood, plastic, and metal. You would want a diamond saw to use on concrete. Unless you were drilling concrete board but with limited use - wouldn't last that long with very many holes.

A:  This arbor can be used with some of the carbide-tooth hole saws that are designed for that application, but you would need a carbide-tipped pilot bit.
