Q:Can these be used for a swimming pool?

Answer This Question

A:  I presume so/can't be sure...used for shower- works great.

by|Aug 27, 2023

A:  Disclaimer: I didn't buy these but I did inspect the sample provided by Home Depot. As I recall, I suppose that they could be used in a pool - the key would be to use the right grout.

    by|Jun 1, 2020

A:  Hi! No, our Resort Marine Blue is not suitable for pool installations as the adhesive used on the mesh backing is water soluble. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652.

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi! Yes, our Resort Marine Blue is mounted to a mesh sheet. We advise laying out as much of a full sheet as possible then trimming the mesh with scissors to isolate areas which require cutting. Individual chips which require cuts can be removed from the mesh backing then cut. We advise using a wet saw with a diamond tipped blade as that will offer the best cut with the least chance of breakage. Attempting to cut full mosaic sheets with a wet saw may dissolve the adhesive and cause pieces to separate from the backing. As for adhesive, Home Depot always recommends Custom Building Products installation materials. The most versatile adhesive is their Versabond Fortified Thinset Mortar http://thd.co/29Po1DR. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652.

A:  Yes, as you can see in one of the online photos, they come in a five-by-five tile piece with a nylon mesh on the back. I'm afraid I cannot give you an outdoor grout recommendation, if that is what the second part of your question refers to.

Q:I need 30 square feet of this tile. How much do I order?

            Answer This Question

A:  Hi Rie, For a space that covers 30 square feet, you will need to purchase a minimum of 30 sheets as each sheet covers 1 square foot. This does not account for the grout joints between each tile. To account for the recommended 10% overage for cutting, future repairs, dye lot and caliber consistency, we would recommend purchasing 33 sheets. To find out how many pieces you would need to order, you would need to divide the square footage of the space by the square footage per each. When doing this, ensure that you round up so you have enough sheets (30/1 = 30 sheets). To account for the extra recommended amount, you should add 10% to the square footage, and then divide that by the square footage per sheet (33/1 = 33 sheets). If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

A:  30 pieces plus wastage of 10% for a total of 33 pieces. We used a light gray grout and it looks great.

Q:Is this safe to use (non-slip) on a shower floor?

                  Answer This Question

A:  Hi JE, Our Resort Beach Blue can be used on a shower floor, but keep in mind that this does not have a high slip resistance rating and does not meet the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Guidelines for slip resistance. If there are small children or elderly adults using this shower, you might want to choose a tile that has a higher slip resistance. If this is not an area for concern, the glazed surface is chemical resistant and approved for shower floor usage. The grout joints that will be present can also offer some additional slip resistance. If this is an area of concern for you, we would recommend looking into our Metro Square Matte Light Blue https://thd.co/2Kb76wB. This matte mosaic meets the ADA Guidelines for slip resistance by having a C.O.F. (Coefficient of Friction) rating between 0.6 and 0.79. When the C.O.F. rating is higher, it means that it’s more slip resistant. The smaller mosaic chips allow for more grout joints to be present which should provide additional slip resistance. If you would like to determine if either of these tiles are right for you, we offer samples! Please be aware that samples come adhered to 6”x6” sample cards which offer a color and texture sample, not a look at the whole mosaic. To be able to see the whole mosaic, we recommend ordering one sheet, or case. Please note that variation in color, shade and texture are inherent characteristics of glazed tile. The pattern, shape, dye lot (color) and size of the actual tile received may vary. Home Depot offers a 90-day return policy on all unused items returned in the full quantity they were sold. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

A:  You'll need 55 of them plus about 10 percent more for cutting and spoilage. You can order extra and simply return to HD as we did. It's a beautiful bright cobalt blue.

A:  Hi Stephanie, For a space that covers 55 square feet, you will need to purchase a minimum of 55 sheets as each sheet covers 1 square foot. This does not account for the grout joints between each tile. A:  You require 55 tiles for your project.

A:  Obviously you start with 55 tiles. Then it depends on your overall space you are trying to cover. If mostly square I would add 10%. I had a irregular space and a sunken tub to go around and needed 20% above my actual space requirements. Hope this helps. By the way, this tile looks great when installed. I used a light grey grout.

A:  Hi Bijou, For a space that covers 15 square feet, you will need to purchase a minimum of 15 sheets as each sheet covers 1 square foot. This does not account for the grout joints between each tile. To account for the recommended 10% overage for cutting, future repairs, dye lot and caliber consistency, we would recommend purchasing 17 sheets. To find out how many sheets you would need to order, you would need to divide the square footage of the space by the square footage per each. When doing this, ensure that you round up so you have enough sheets (15/1 = 15 sheets). To account for the extra recommended amount, you should add 10% to the square footage, and then divide that by the square footage per sheet (16.5/1 = 16.5 or 17 sheets). A:  Hi Duja, Yes, our Resort Palm Green can be cut into individual strips of tile! The mosaic chips are adhered to a fabric mesh with water soluble adhesive; the mesh itself can be easily cut if so desired. If you need to cut the chips of the mosaic, we would suggest using a wet saw with a diamond-tipped blade. We always recommend the use of a wet saw as it offers the best cut with the least chance of breakage. After you finish cutting the tiles, you might want to sand the edges to smooth them down as they have the potential to be very sharp. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

A:  Hi Linda, Yes, our Resort Palm Green would be great around a gas insert fireplace surrounding! As long as these tiles aren’t in direct contact with flames, they won’t be affected by indirect heat. These tiles are heated to temperatures over thousands of degrees during the manufacturing process, so a small amount of indirect heat from a gas insert fireplace is nothing compared to that. Two great options for our Resort Marine Blue are #165 Delorean Gray or, if you’re looking for a bit darker, #60 Charcoal. Being as coordinating is a matter of personal preference, it is best to decide what color you feel matches best. Home Depot stores offer dried grout samples, so it is best that you take this tile to your local store and compare it to these samples in the flooring department.
