Q:The switch indicates: Only works with incandescent/halogen bulbs and is not compatible with CFL/LED bulbs Does anyone have a solution for CFL/LED bulbs?

A:  Lutron would recommend the MACL-LFQ for individual control of dimming LED lights and changing fan speeds. The MACL-LFQ is rated to dim up to 75w LED (250W incandescent) and can control a single 1.5 amp ceiling fan.

Q:The description says it’s just for halogen and incandescent bulbs. I have other Lutron dimmer switches that work fine with dimmable LED bulbs.

            Answer This Question

A:  The AY2-LFSQ is not rated for use with LEDs. Instead, Lutron suggests the MACL-LFQ which is rated for 75W of compatible LED lighting. To see which LEDs are compatible, please visit www.lutron.com/ledfinder.

Q:When installing this switch, the instructions say it can only be used to run ONE fan/light. Is there a similar switch that can control two lights or why can it not control two units in the same room? I have it connected to TWO fans/lights and it seems to work except one fan runs faster than the other.

              Answer This Question

A:  I would use manufacturer recommendation. While this may work it hasn't been approved for the application. The other point to consider was this switch compatible with your fan. Some fan manufacturer doesn't recommend solid state controls. check amperage for the combination of the 2 fans and light don't exceed 80% of switch rating. you said one fan runs faster than the other one check to see if your fan pull chain were both set up for high speed.

              by|Jun 25, 2020

A:  The AY2-LFSQ has capacitors built into the device that can only pass functionality to one fan/light. Having multiple fans connected will result in diminished power at the second fan/light and the fan will spin slower than the first. Currently, Lutron does not have a 3-speed fan control designed to operate more than one fan/light at a time.
