Q:I currently have a double toggle but want to be able to dim the light independently while still using the fan.

Answer This Question
A: If you are thinking of slowing down the fan, that's not the way those fan motors work. The speed of the motor is locked to the frequency if the alternating current. If you decrease the voltage, which is what these dimmers do, you cause a "brownout" condition in the motor which could cause it to overheat and fail.

A: Unfortunately this control is not rated to handle an exhaust fan motor so we cannot recommend it be used in this application.

Q:Is there a similar dual dimmer rated for Dimable LED's?

Answer This Question
A: I'm using this to dim two circuits of recessed ceiling LED in adjacent rooms. It works fine, but the LEDs don't dim for the full range of the switch. When you lower the switch to the bottom third of its range, the bulbs go off. Likewise, when turning on, the bulbs come on bright when the dimmer is about halfway on, then you have to slowly back off to dim them.

A: This switch *does* work to dim Cree LED bulbs I have on two separate fixtures, so if you're desperate (there are few alternatives if you need two separate dimmers in one switch), this switch is worth a try. As you can see by another comment here from Lutron, they do not certify this switch with LEDs, but several customers in HD reviews for this switch have found it works with their LEDs. One reason Lutron may not certify this switch for LEDs could be that some LED bulbs are dimmable, and others are not, and the standards may vary among bulb manufacturers, so your experience may vary depending on your LED bulbs. Make sure the LEDs bulbs you use are marked on the package: DIMMABLE, and understand: even then, the switch may or may not work for you.

Q:The sliders are cracked. Do you know where I can get new sliders?

Answer This Question
A: Lutron does not currently sell replacement knobs in store. We would suggest contacting our 24/7 Technical Support hotline and one of our agents may be able to help you locate some replacements knobs. If it is the actual slider that the knob slides on to however, that would not be a replaceable part.
