    Answer This Question

A:  The MS-VPS5M vacancy sensor switch has several timeout settings available. By default, it will keep the lights on until no motion has been detected for 5 minutes, and then the lights will turn off. You can find all of the possible timeout settings and programming methods on the install guide here: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/0301647.pdf.

      Answer This Question

A:  The MS-VPS5MH-WH cannot have its vacancy sensor bypassed to keep a lighting load on indefinitely. The maximum amount of time that the MS-VPS5MH-WH will keep a lighting load on for is 30 minutes. Please see the following programming guide for more information: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/048461.pdf

Q:I would like to use this in a bathroom because my light switch is behind the door. Is it possible to make the lights only (entry and vanity) on auto but keep the exhaust fan on manual? Or does everything have to be auto only? I don't want the exhaust fan to turn on automatically too because it seems unnecessary. I would want to manually turn that on when I needed it.

        Answer This Question

A:  The MS-OPS5M is rated for 5A of lighting load or 3A of mixed fan/lighting loads. All loads connected to it will act as the same circuit meaning they will turn on together and off together. Please see the following specification sheet for more information: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/369666.pdf

                Answer This Question

A:  This product is a vacancy only sensor and will not turn on when it senses motion. It will however turn off when it no longer senses motion in the room. The model number that would turn on with motion and off without motion would be the MS-OPS5M-BL.

                  Answer This Question

A:  Hello Buzzard, I’m Chris from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question. The installation instructions specify “Up to 600 Watt incandescent, halogen, electronic low voltage; 200 Watt magnetic low voltage; 150 Watt CFL/ LED, 2-Amp magnetic and electronic ballasts, 3-Amp fan” as suitable. Each of the fixtures you plan to install takes just over 1 amp each, so this switch could only handle one of them, not 4. I hope this helps, Chris. .

Q:I have no ground in my switch boxes. I have used these just by themselves and wired the ground into the neutral and it works perfectly. Tried one of the 5 amp switches for a 3 way config and couldnt get it to work.

                    Answer This Question

A:  Unfortunately Lutron cannot recommend tying in the ground connection into the neutral in any application. The dimming sensor, model MSCL-OP153M-WH, can be used without a ground connection, however you will want to ensure the load you are using is dimmable.
