Answer This Question

A:  The MA-AS-WH is a Maestro Companion switch for use with Maestro master switches and sensors. This device could not be used for a single pole application. For a single pole application, Lutron would suggest the MA-S8AM-WH, this switch will require a neutral connection. A:  This is a companion switch and will not work as a standalone switch. It's designed to be as a multi-location switch paired with at least one digital switch (model: MA-S8AM). You may need that one for your setup. As for amperage, the 8 amp max will work with your 3 amp load.

Q:When combined with the Lutron Motion Sensor, how does this switch work? Does the light turn on when this is initially pushed and turn off when the motion sensor does not sense any motion? Or will the light remain on until the companion switch is pushed again?

      Answer This Question

A:  When used in conjunction with a Maestro sensor, the MA-AS will send a signal telling the sensor to turn on. The sensor will then perform as if it were turned on with motion. Once it no longer senses motion, it will begin its timeout process until it sees motion again.

A:  Yes. It works great with LED bulbs and LED fixtures

A:  The companion switch does not actually have the ability to handle a load so as long as the master switch is LED rated, then you should not have any issues in your application.

Q:Would this switch work as an on/off switch by itself? I have a few lights (non-dimmable) controlled by more than one switch and changing any of the switches will turn the lights on or off. That is what I would like to use this for, would it work or do you have other suggestions. Ideally I would like a push button on off switch.

              Answer This Question

A:  This device is a companion control only and would need to be paired with a Maestro master control for proper functionality. The MA-AS cannot be used in single-pole applications.

              by|May 5, 2023

A:  This must be linked to a Maestro switch. It will turn lights on and off as well as dim.
