A:  It sounds like your talking about the garbage disposal side of your double sink if this is the case no you cannot use this there unless you remove your garbage disposal. If this is not the case and you don not have a garbage disposal in your sink then yes this will work replace the drank you currently have just make sure you buy the correct size i.e. 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 inch diameter drain.

Q:I just purchased an undermount sink and it came with this basket strainer. I can't figure out how my garbage disposal should attach, which makes me believe I need another drain.

A:  Thank you, Jamie. As advised by Home Depot - the Garbage Disposal will replace the drain entirely. Please ensure it can accommodate a 3.5 inch drain hole opening. Thanks

A:  Ditch the garbage disposal. We use this in place of a garbage disposal. Wipe all food into the garbage can, what ever this thing collects you can toss. My sink never stinks, unlike sinks with garbage disposals that stink and are prone to clogged pipes.

A:  no. the bottom of the basket is such that it is not compatible with a disposal.

A:  Is your sink a single bowl drain of double bowl drain? in either case yes you can replace this basket strainer with a garbage disposal unit with generally comes with all the attachment items to the sink you may have to buy a electric cord and dishwasher kit if your going to drain the dishwasher through the disposal unit. This basket simply comes out and the garbage disposal takes it place. It is a simple switch that can be done yourself.

A:  Hello Jamie, I’m Chris from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question. Rather than hook up a garbage disposal to the drain, the disposal will replace the drain, as it has its own flange and mounts directly to the sink. I hope this helps, Chris. .

A:  Most garbage disposers come with a drain fitting such that it incorporates a mount for the disposer to attach to and a rubber splash guard rather than a strainer basket. This is strictly for the normal drain.

Q:Is this shiny like polished stainless steel, or does it have the brushed/satin finish?

A:  The lip and cover are more polished than the inside bowl and basket so I would call the lid and mounting lip polished but not as shiny as chrome and the basket brushed. I installed with new stainless sink and it matched well with the sink and the other strainer which was polished stainless.

A:  Thank you for your question. The strainer lid and trim of the strainer housing has a polished stainless steel finish while the inner lining of the housing as well as the basket strainer that is inside has a brushed stainless steel finish. We hope this answers your questions. If not, please contact us at 1(800)775-0703 so that we may better assist you.

A:  For the most part it has a brushed/satin finish. The only polished area is the drain plug by the handle. The ring around it is brushed/satin. It's really a very nice finish. (The drain and strainer are all brushed/satin finish.)

A:  It is all stainless steel but only the parts visible from inside the sink with the strainer or plug in place are polished. Underside and interior components of the drain assembly are stainless steel but not polished and so have a matte finish.
