        Q:I am buying Kohler 24" 16gauge undermount stainless single sink. I would like to use strainer and have garbage disposal installed underneath. Could kindly point to what items to buy other than disposal itself. I am handy but havn't done this config.

        A:  Hi Review13, this is Sarah with Kohler Customer Service. I am glad to address your question. In a two drain hole sink, we recommend using the K-8801 drain and K-11352 disposal flange. If you wish to have a basket strainer for the disposal, we do not have an option for this. Our apologies. Thank you for contacting Kohler.

          A:  You only need the disposal / plumbers putty to install. Buy the strainer separately not the whole tail pipe.

                A:  Hello Wendy, my name is Kassi with Kohler Co. I'd be glad to answer your question. The tailpiece connects the drain to the p-trap for the waste to go down. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

                  A:  On new construction it connects to the drain plumbing.  Existing sink may have the plumbing already connected the bottom of the sink.  You may be able to connect to the sink without the new tailpiece.

                    A:  It’s just the pipe that goes into the trap.  You can skip the tail piece and use pvc pipes as well.

                      A:  It connects to the drain. So if you had a drain and this is already there you may not need it. But I ordered it with the tailpiece because you don’t know until the plumber sees what you have existing.
