A:  I am NOT certain that it will fit your cast iron sink. BUT, my sink is the original one in a house that was built in the Seventies. It fit Perfectly, and is still in use and doing a great job. No leaks, and no issues. If your sink i plainly identifiable as a "Kohler Mayfield" sink, I would bet money that it will fit. Most plumbing has been (mercifully) standardized these days, so unless your sink is from the 1920's, this drian will probably fit nicely. Good Luck. Layney Wight.

Q:Kohler is calling out this Polished Chrome Duostrainer with the stainless steel sink. Would this be the correct piece or the Vibrant Stainless Duostrainer for a stainless steel sink?

                  Answer This Question

A:  Hi Kelsey, this is Sarah with Kohler Customer Service. I'm glad to answer your question. The Polished Chrome and Vibrant Stainless would compliment a stainless steel sink. If the sink you've selected has more of a polished/shiny finish, the Polished Chrome would be closest. If the sink you've selected has more of a brushed/matte (standard) finish, the Vibrant Stainless would be closest. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

                      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Eric, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm glad to address your question. If you will be reusing your existing tailpiece, you will not need to order the Duostrainer with tailpiece. If you will be replacing this part along with the sink strainer, the Duostrainer with the tailpiece would be needed. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

A:  I bought my Duo-Strainer "With" the the Tailpiece, because I was Not sure if my "Original/Existing" plastic Tailpiece would fit into the New Strainer. Most Tailpieces are either 1 & 1/4" or 1 & 1/2" in Diameter.. The Drain-Trap under the Tailpiece can usually accommodate either Diameter (1&1/4" and 1 & 1/2"), because the coupling for the Drain-Trap and the bottom of the Tailpiece has a Compression-Fitting/Gasket that will Seal/Tighten-up for either Diameter... However, since I was Not sure what the Diameter of the "New" sink strainer was going to be, I could not be positive that my original Tailpiece (1 & 1/4") would fit into the bottom of the New Strainer. But, by purchasing both the Strainer and Tailpiece together, I would have a Matched Set (at the Strainer/Tailpiece Coupling), and still be assured that no matter what diameter/size the Tailpiece was, it would fit into my existing Trap. Hope this helps with your decision.

Q:Color issue: We had purchased two of these same strainers in oil rubbed bronze about 3 years ago. We installed them in a black cast iron sink and they matched very well. We just purchased another for a different black sink and the color is not the same. It is a brownish silver, with a bluish tint. There is a rainbow effect on the underside like it was overheated, and that color hue is present down inside the strainer too. We are planning on ordering a replacement - is this normal or will the replacement be more similar to the original ones we bought?

A:  Hi mc2019, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm sorry to hear there is a color variance between this drain purchased 3 years ago and purchased today. I'm glad to address your question. We used to product this product in Oil Rubbed Bronze (-BRZ) and have since discontinued this color. Our current Oil Rubbed Bronze color (-2BZ) is slightly different. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.
