Answer This Question
A: Hi there, thank you for your question. As it turns out, we do not have any products that we recommend for shower tiles. Our coatings are not designed to be submerged underwater or get wet constantly. I suggest checking with your local store for a recommendation on a specialty product that you may be able to use for your project. Have a great day! -Giovanna

A: Hi Rachel, thanks for the question. Our Restoration primer isn't recommended to be used on floors that are going to be exposed to direct foot traffic. It should only be used on Subfloors. We do have out Kilz 3 Premium Primer that can be used on floors, but it doesn't have the odor-blocking capabilities the the Restoration primer does. Have a great day! -Ronald

Q:Can this product be painted directly onto semi-gloss or do I need to prepare the surface before applying the primer? And if so, would applying a TSP solution adequately prepare the surface?
by|Oct 4, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Hi Airique1974, thank you for your question. It's best to scuff sand the semi-gloss surface before applying Kilz Restoration. A non-soapy detergent or TSP substitute can be used to clean the surface after sanding. To help reduce the need to sand glossy surfaces, Kilz Adhesion can be applied. Have a great day! - Randy

Q:How dry does concrete need to be before applying. I am filling vertical foundation defects with quick setting quickrete and applying this afterwards.

Answer This Question
A: Hi Mark, thank you for your question. We typically advise letting concrete dry for at least 30 days before coating. Less than 10% (moisture) would be ideal, and greater than 20% (moisture) can affect the product's performance and longevity. You can also reach out to the manufacturer for more information about the suggested dry time before coating. -Lina

Q:Can I just use Kilz oil based formula as a stain blocking primer on paneling without sanding before painting the paneled walls????

Answer This Question
A: Hi DEEE, thank you for your question. Before priming wall paneling with the oil-based Kilz Original Primer or the water-based Kilz Restoration Primer, scuff sanding will be required. The surface should be sound, clean, and scuff sanded to promote adhesion. After priming, you do not need to sand the primer, before topcoating. Have a great day! -Giovanna
