    Answer This Question

A:  Hello Ricky Birmingham AL is a 5lb Ground snow load requirement. You can order this kit and leave off 1 post and still comply with the engineering requirements for your area. The same kit for a 10lb load cost the same.... item # 1251006700814....so you might as well get the 3 post kit and save a complete post in case you need one in the future... Thank you B

A:  Hello Ricky The kit you cited is engineered/designed to a 30 lb ground snow load. It requires 3 posts to comply for that 30lb load. The 10lb & 20lb kits are designed with 2 posts. If you can provide your city and state we can check the snow load requirements for your area or you can reach out to your local building department for the required ground snow load for your city. Thank you W

              Answer This Question

A:  Hello Deck, Sorry no, you cannot just fasten the bottom post brackets to the deck boards... You will need to add subframing at each post location so the long lag screws (you supply) will penetrate thru the deck board and into the subframing for each bottom post bracket. Thank you B
