A: This insert works well for my Sheppard lab mix 106 Lbs. I have a sliding glass door and it locks in place well. The plastic closes up with the magnet to keep out the heat in the summer.

A: I bought one of these a few years ago. It's a quick and easy install and works like a champ. After figuring out that the magic clear plastic moved, my dog didn't have any issues using it. I'd recommend buying some king of block for your sliding glass door as well since the stock lock will no longer be of use.

A: This will take up half your door space for entry and exit. So you can use it but you’ll need to be able to slip through. I’m 6ft 230 and can get by with it sideways. As for the lock, no, the sliding door lock will no longer work when this is placed in the frame. You will need to get a bar lock for the inside slider panel of the door. The one that worked best for me was called WedgeIt. It’s made of PVC and is adjustable which is great since your door will be halfway slid open when needing to use this so it does not have to be the full size of the opening.. It worked perfectly for my application and makes the original door lock unnecessary. Highly recommended and can be purchased at amzn.

A: Yes, the slider can still be opened. An optional track lock is included.

Q:Specs say "Pet patio door has a standard rise of 8 in.; rise is the distance from the floor to the bottom of the pet door". That is a lot if it is from the floor inside, most pet doors are 4-5 inches from the floor inside but around 8 inches from the ground outside. Can I get verification on the rise height inside vs. rise height outside.

A: Actually, the spacers are screw-in inserts. Other than (in some cases) blocking lawn debris and snow from coming in, the chief function is to be a piece of metal for the magnet on the pet flap itself. Given our deck is below the door sill, I just removed all the spacers (and the pet flap as the one dog refused to use it) and it also gave more space for big dogs (30" to shoulder). You could probably reposition the spacers to change the spacing if you wanted - I think there were 3 on the large. Definitely helps to keep birds and bugs out even without the pet flap.

A: Had mine for a few years. We didn’t actually secure into the door, so we can take it in and out. Love it
