Answer This Question

A:  TG the splice kit is rated for direct burial and underground applications. You might want to check with your local code people in your area as it changes depending on your area. Thanks Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

A:  That is exactly what I used it for. I had a corroded section of wire coming into the basement, had to replace it by cutting out that section, then extend the wire in the PVC conduit coming into the house. I chose this because it is well insulated, and I have confidence that it will work well, and for a long service life.

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes the splice kit is good up to # 4 AWG which should be OK. Just check the cable you have it should tell you what it is every couple feet. If it is larger than # 4 AWG use the 46-402 splice kit. Good luck Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

A:  My understanding of your question, Mike, is does this product have UV resistance. I don't know and haven't found out. If your splice does not receive direct sunlight, there will be no problems.

Q:How many wires will this splice? I sliced a sprinkler system cable and there are 8 wires to reconnect. Thank you.

        Answer This Question

A:  If you clamp more than one wire, you will create a short. You can splice several with another method and use this to cover several spliced wires. If you twist and tape, or solder, the eight wires and individually insulate them, and if they fit into this, you can certainly use it. Oh, just saw the date. Well, I just saw the question. I hope that you got the issue dealt with.

A:  RJ look for the 46-400 UF splice kit HD sells it would do a better job.The kit will allow you to splice 4 wires so you will need two of them to get the job done. Good luck Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

A:  Tom The connector will work with #8 to #4 AWG wires so 1/0 and larger is too big. Our 46-403 would do the job but would be a special order from HD. Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
