The splice kit connected my newly installed battery 40 amp fuse to a 13ft 6 gauge copper wire to power my ham radio which draws 22 amps. There was no drop in voltage caused by insertion of the splice kit. The double shrink tubing seals the splice kit from moisture and impact. I recommend the kit.

When I received these, I took the opportunity to add an outside outlet. I have experience with these and I have come to appreciate the ease of use and reliability, Previously, I have only used products such as this indoors. I normally would make and underground run with a continuous piece of wire, but I had a couple of short pieces that I spliced with this. It was copper, so I can't speak to use with aluminum. If I were to do this, I would certainly smear some Noalox on the wires. I wasn't sure how much these would shrink, so I fattened my wire up with some electrician's tape(exterior) before I heat shrunk the connection. These have been no issues for a month or so. Therefore, I have to problems recommending these.

I use these a lot for costumers that cut low ac voyage wires never had a problem with this item before. This is easy to use not a lot of tools needed to install. I always use wire coating in the aluminum fitting to stop corrosion. This nice and easier to use than pulling new underground cable. The dyi person needs to check local codes to be sure it can be used in there area.

This is golden. I repaired a damaged cable for my sub panel in a pole barn while the temperature was in high 30's and dropping to near freezing by the time I was done due to an ensuing cold front. My Wagner heat gun still was able to heat it up enough on the high setting to shrink it perfectly to see the glue ooze from the ends which signifies a good fit. It is very easy to install. The hardest part was stripping the thick cable with a box blade but I got it done with a steady hand under extreme conditions. Produces a foolproof, waterproof, splice! Would recommend

Mark thanks for the review most people don't know what a job it is to splice a underground cable like that even harder in the cold! IDEAL makes several versions of a splice kit depending on the wire you have and one includes a "stretcher kit" and includes a 11.5 inch piece to help replace any damaged cable. Take care Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

this is a great product. I had to use this for over at my moms house who accidentally cut her air conditioning units wiring in half while she was trimming hedges next to the unit. I spliced the wiring back together and used this product to protect the spice I made. A this makes it more pleasing to the eye and B it looks and protects better than just using wire nuts to put back together.

I used this in a semi-wet location, to splice outdoors a service wire coming into a residence when replacing a section of corroded wire. I have confidence that the splice will be long lasting and waterproof. I got one as part of an evaluation program, purchased 3 more, so that I could splice the other 2 wires, and one for the ground feed. This is a very good product, and I'll use these again where indicated.

Seals well, clamps the wires well, good product. It does stiffen the area and makes it inflexible.

Hi DW thanks for the review these kits are great for repairing an in ground electrical cable like UF. We make several other kits as well depending on what you are doing. The compound on the inside of the heat shrink does a nice job of waterproofing the connection. Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
