Q:Current doorbell not nearly loud enough. The Designer Series Colonial White Wired/wireless is deemed loud by reviewers. Can I use the old transformer or get a new one? Thanks.

A: we used old transformer to connect.

A: You can either wire this into your existing system as long as the transformer delivers 16VAC-10 Watts. However, this Designer model can also run wirelessly on batteries and be placed almost anywhere in your home. If you do want to use it as a wireless doorbell, you will need to purchase a wireless push button as well.

Q:Where can I get the diode required. It was not included. I have a semi-functional doorbell.

Answer This Question
A: All doorbells that require the use of diode for the push button should come with the diode. They are in a little baggie with an orange card. Sometimes folks throw these away without reading what it is for. You should call our tech service department at 1-800-858-8501 and they can tell you how to get a replacement diode.

A: I had this problem when I first hung it on the wall. When I installed the batteries I did not get the cover on just right. When I hung it on the wall the cover was not on tight so it kept telling me that the cover was no on right. I took it down and went through the steps to secure the cover and then rehung it. I had no problems after that.

A: I installed the wired/wireless doorbell and was able to make the interior unit work with an AC transformer (without a wired push button and with a wireless push button) by putting the supplied diode in series with one of the wires from the AC transformer (I wired the AC transformer to the transformer and front door screws). I put the diode in series with the ac transformer wire going to the Front Door Screw. i.e. connected diode to the wire from transformer and then connected diode to the front door screw. Without the diode in the circuit the doorbell rings continously. I don't know why they don't give this hint in the instructions. Saves on using "D" batteries with the interior unit. If you look at the wiring diagram this gives the same result as connecting the diode in parallel with the wired switch, which they tell you to do.

A: Yes this works. The downside is that the wireless button will always be the front door chime. You can not change it.

Q:We purchased this doorbell and have it installed and working fine. We have been unable to find an add a chime extension for our basement. We have tried the kind that is hardwired into the doorbell which didn't work-I don' t know the brand. A second option that picks up the vibrations won't work because of the curved top of this doorbell. Can you recommend an option that will work?

A: If the transmitter / extender portion of the Door Chime Extender (Model # DL-6157, Internet # 202209328, Store SKU # 611956) will not fit on top of your door chime, you can affix it to the wall near your door chime with the screws or double-sided tape included in the package.
