A: The cover that was recommended on the Home Depot site is too short for this firepit. Best to get one elsewhere if you're going to get this one.

A: I don't recommend a cover. Not for a firepit, air conditioner or grill. They lock in moisture and cause things to rust prematurely. If you take the cover off a few times a week for every week, including winter, you can use a cover. If you want to cover stuff for the winter, don't. You'll be wasting money on not only a cover, but also your firepit, air conditioner and grill.

A: Seems to me that after using mine for a year, if you have flames higher than the cover, the cover will rust nearly overnight when humid. The rest is holding up well with sand in it.

A: Matt - makes sense, I can see that. I rarely use the spark cover when using, we can discuss the safety of that later:), so mine hasn't sucumb to that problem.
Howie - I'm just saying I followed the instructions to a tee and have had zero issues with it 3 years running now and we use it 3-4 times a month. Sounds like you did not.

A: The whole thing rusted top to bottom. I doubt sand would have made much of a difference.
