A: We always just let ours burn out naturally.

A: Hank, this fire pit is a good choice, I always put minimal wood in and let it burn out, once it is only ambers just leave the lid on and nothing will be able to get out. Also make sure you follow the directions and get yourself a 50lbs bag of cheap sand to lay in the bottom, it protects the metal and keeps ambers from falling through the vents. and makes it easy to clean, just dump the old sand and ambers when its full, refill with sand and fire it up again.

Q:Hi! My new fire pit did not come with any rain/weather cover just the mesh cover. Any advice how to get the one that everyone refers to in the comments?
We ordered this same pit in the past and it came with the rain cover and that helped keep it in excellent condition.
Thanks for your help?

A: I barely used my cover and it stayed in good condition. Yes it would probably rust faster than if it were covered but I don't think enough to worry about it.

A: I ordered a cover from a major on-line only retailer. The cover forms a "Porch Shield" if you will for the fire pit. Through first summer/fall it seems to be holding up well. Real winter weather shows up here this week, we will see how it does. Cover seems very well constructed for a reasonable price. I think Home Depot site suggested one as well that I would guess is decent quality. At the time I purchased the fire pit it seemed expensive however.

Q:Can we use charcoal if we are converting it to a grill?

Answer This Question
A: NO, don't wanna eat off this the toxins from the paint and metal will kill you. use a grill type rated fireplace or a grill.

A: I've never thought of using charcoal but I'm sure it can work. You'll need a grate and there is no way to control the cooking temperature. I would prefer to use my Weber kettle.

Q:Will it scorch travertine pavers? Just put in a new patio without fixed firepit and dont want to risk damaging patio

A: Probably yes when the bottom rusts out after 4 months and the coals fall through.

A: I have a patio made from Unilock pavers (I believe travertine is a type of marble). I have not had any issue with scorching, and we've had some raging fires in this fire pit. Note that while I believe the firepit sits off the ground and there is a 'heat protection plate under the fire box as well, we decided to put the fire put up on a couple of thin bricks, just to raise it a bit more (more for height, than heat). If you are concerned, raise it up and test it out. I'm guessing that if travertine is used for patios it is fairly tough stuff.

A: I bought a cover separately on amazon and it works great. I got one that was 36 inches square so it has no trouble going over this fire pit.

A: Don’t store it outside. It rusts pretty quick
by|May 30, 2023
A: Yes. I got this a few years ago and now it has rusted quite a bit due to sun exposure. I'd highly recommend a cover.

A: Used a cover on it for a few years and it seemed to accelerate rusting of the top - I think we’d probably not use one again
by|Oct 19, 2020
A: The cover does help keep rain off the bottom of the pit so it won't rust as fast.
If it will be a hassle to remember to cover it then don't bother.
