Q:I am looking to run a gas line to a dryer, roughly 20ft away from 1in black pipe, the main house supply. The product would allow to snake my way to the dryer much easier then black pipe. Would this product be suitable for the task?

Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Nick - Yes it would. Simply insert a 1" black iron tee into your line, use a 1" Home-Flex male CSST fitting and some 1" Home Flex CSST to near your dryer. Being a movable appliance, by code you'll have to terminate the use of CSST before the dryer and, from there, use an approved flexible gas appliance connector. Also be sure to bond your gas distribution system. See section 4.10 of our Home Flex CSST Design and installation manual available at homeflex.com/resources. Thanks!

Q:I’m installing a tankless system that requires the flex pipe to be rated at 80K BTU. I don’t see bTU listed in specs. What is the btu rating?

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Tomz - CSST (regardless who makes it) doesn't use BTU/h as a "rating". Generally, one would want to know the capability of your meter or LP tank; the lineal length of all the appliances pulling off the same source, and the total BTU/h of all appliances on the system. Then the chart would show what size CSST size you'd need to know that would be adequate for the installation. Check out our HOME-FLEX CSST System Design & Installation Manual at homeflex.com/resources. Thanks.

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Joseph - That shouldn't be a problem. You'll want to make sure it's protected against damage by putting it in a non-metallic conduit (PVC pipe). Check out our HOME-FLEX CSST System Design & Installation Manual available at homeflex.com/resources.

A:  Hi, DavidL - Our CSST and fittings are sold ala-carte. You'll need to affix either a male, female, or union at the end of each piece of CSST. Some HD stores do not carry 1" CSST but all product is available for quick shipment on homedepot.com.

          Q:Can csst be direct buried?

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Jonathan - No, CSST cannot be direct buried. If buried, it should be in a non-metallic (pvc) conduit that is 1/2" larger than the OD of the CSST. Further, the CSST should not have any fittings while inside the conduit. The conduit should also be water tight and vented to the surface. Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Charles - Fittings from one CSST manufacturer should not be used with CSST tubing from a different manufacturer. They've not been tested together and are not certified for use together. Please see the FAQs for CSST on homedepot.com for additional information.

              Answer This Question

A:  Hi, 1987 - The product you reference is not schedule 40; however, it is widely used for in-home gas delivery systems (including to a fireplace). Please check the HOME-FLEX CSST Design & Installation Manual available at homeflex.com/resources. Our CSST pipe is specifically designed to work with our CSST brass fittings. It's important to never mix tubing from one manufacturer with fittings from another manufacturer.
