Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Zach - Our CSST fittings can be used to hook up to standard IPS fittings. Suggest you check out the Home Flex CSST Design & Installation Manual at homeflex.com/resources for specifics. You'd want to ensure that all exposed CSST be covered in a protective conduit. If you have questions after reviewing our guide, please feel free to call either Dave (x1026) or Jon (x1010) at (661) 257-3923 M-F 8a-5p. Thanks.

A:  Hi, Kevin - We suggest you refer to our HOME-FLEX Design & Installation Manuals available at homeflex.com/resources. Typically one would use our Underground PE pipe and fittings for this installation since it is purpose built for underground gas installations at a more affordable price. CSST is typically used for indoor applications althrough it can be used underground with certain provisions. Once you have reviewed the HF Underground Manual, give us a call if you have questions. Q:Can I run this 1? CSST piping above ground from my natural gas meter to my portable generator and can I disconnect it and roll it up on a hose reel when not being used ?

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi John. No, sorry. That would not be a good application. Depending on the length of the run and the demand of your generator, you would be better served by a gas hose. If you search the internet for natural gas hose or LPG hose, you will see what is available. Be sure to pay attention to the sizing charts / tables.

Q:Product details on website says: CSST tubing operating pressure: 25psi (max 125psi) Tubing says max 25psi Can you clarify this difference? Thanks!

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Daniel - A good question! In a gas distribution system (CSST's intended use), the max pressure is 25 psi. Most systems on a meter run at 1/4 psi; off an LP tank is generally 1/2 psi so the 25 max pressure isn't an issue. As for the 125 psi notation, this is a test done by CSA to show the integrity of the pipe even though there's no way the operating pressure in a system would be anywhere near that. Bottom line: Abide by the 25 psi max rating as stated on the tubing.

              Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Dotty - We occasionally get this question. Inasmuch as it's a concern, we've not had any calls or reports that rodents can actually eat through the pipe. We cannot say that it's rodent proof, only that we've not heard of it occuring.

                  Answer This Question

A:  Yes, but not direct burial. It must be in a water tight non-metallic conduit (like pvc pipe) that is at least 1/2" larger (ID) than the OD of the CSST. It must be vented to the surface, have no fittings inside the conduit, and (if attached to the home's black iron gas distribution system) be bonded. Suggest you consider HOME-FLEX Underground products for outdoor underground use.
