    Answer This Question

A:  HI DBarker-this is Sue from GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest in our microwaves. Our over-the-range microwaves are not designed for installation over a countertop. We suggest our GE Profile Series 1.4 cu. ft. microwave PEM31SFSS. You will also need the optional Undercabinet Hanging Kit JXA019K. Thanks for checking with us!

A:  Hello Lakeside - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. If you wish to change this model to be internally vented or recirculating, then we recommend purchasing the JX81J charcoal filter kit. You will also need to change the blower motor as identified in the Installation Instructions. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello Helen - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. The Installation Instructions state not to use less than a 6" diameter duct for the exhaust. Since our appliances have been designed to meet specific requirements, we do not support altering or changing any aspect of the design or installation. I hope this helps! Thanks for your interest in GE!

A:  Hello Helen - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. It would not be a problem to vent the microwave 15 feet. If you view the microwave installation instructions, there are some examples of venting. Any of our microwaves can be installed to be vented through the top. Please see the following Quick Specs link for additional information: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/21/21b4779c-b22f-48cd-a992-1f497da4f187.pdf I hope this helps! Q:It has been answered distance in inches from microwave to stove cooktop 13.5" to 16".
              by|May 25, 2015

              Answer This Question

A:  Hello Helen- this is Nancy at GE and I'm further happy to help you. It is not critical that this 13-1/2" to 16" figure is met exactly. It is the 66" from floor to top of microwave dimension that should be followed. If less than 66", the warranty could be void if problems occur due to heat/steam from the cooktop surface below the microwave. Over-the-range models may be mounted higher than the 66" from floor, noting that the further the microwave is from the cooktop, the vent draw capability may be affected. I hope this helps! Thanks for choosing GE!

Q:What is the distance in inches between the microwave and the stove cooktop?

                Answer This Question

A:  Hello Helen - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. The microwave should be installed so that there is 66" from the floor to the top of the microwave. If the microwave is mounted properly, then this would allow approximately 13-1/2" to 16" between the cooktop and the bottom front of the microwave. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

                  Answer This Question

A:  Hello Helen - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. Any of our over-the-range microwaves can be installed to be vented to the outside. This unit is a nice model and is already set to be vented to the outside. They come vented to the outside or internally vented. The microwaves that come vented to the outside come set up to be vented outside through the top; however, they can be changed to be vented outside through the back of the unit. Your installer will be able to adjust the venting if necessary, I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
