A:  Hello, the GAF Liberty Peel and Stick roofing can be applied down to a clean plywood deck without underlayment. We ask for the plywood to be primed with an ASTM D41 Asphalt Primer before installation. Please call our technical team to discuss at 877-GAF-ROOF. Thank you for your question

          Q:So I need this cap sheet, plus the base sheet, then I replace the "messy solvent-based adhesive" with messy ASTM D41 solvent-based primer, that I have to go chase down since HD doesn't carry any, what's the benefit of the 3x-4x the cost and extra work??

          A:  The Liberty SBS Self-Adhering Cap Sheet can be installed in either a 1-Ply or 2-Ply system. While the 1-Ply system uses the Cap Sheet adhered to a primed deck, The 2-Ply system consists of the Liberty Base/Ply Sheet and Cap Sheet.                 Q:Our concrete foundation has rigid pink foam insulation attached to it. Can this product be attached to the foam to achieve the look of a concrete foundation or would this product react negatively when attached to the foam?

We recommend putting either a 1-ply system consisting of the Liberty Cap Sheet adhered to a primed plywood deck or a 2-ply system which consists of the Liberty base sheet adhered to a primed deck and the cap sheet on top of the base sheet.
