Q:How fireproof is it? I need to wrap an electric pipe warmer cable, and the instructions call for fiberglass pipe wrap in case of overheating

A:  It is not fireproof. You overwrap the heat cable (not the thermostat) to allow the cable to distribute heat more evenly.

    A:  Yes you can use on stove pipe. Start the insulation at least 6" from the stove itself.

      A:  Yes this will help insulate your pipes. We cannot say if it will prevent them from freezing not knowing where in the US you live and we cannot predict extreme cold weather.

        A:  This will not handle the heat from the exhaust pipe. You need a high temperature fiberglass such as you would find for fireplace inserts.

              A:  No it will not work because it is rigid fiberglass and it is made for straight runs of pipe and will not conform to the bucket.

                  A:  Fiberglass does not react well to water and even though it is self-sealing, it is not 100% moisture proof if used outdoors. We do not recommend using it where it it is exposed to moisture such as rain and snow.

                        Q:My rear exit vent if my electric dryer is attached to a 8 foot pipe to the roof.I wrapped the fiberglass wrap and I?m getting a weird smell is this normal and if it is will it go away ? I also finished the job by using hvac silver foil tape .
