A: It is steel and can be welded. However, some products are coated for preservation and the coating could dangerously volatize. Only a qualified welder should be looking at the product and welding it.

A: The Everbilt 1-1/2 in. x 14-Gauge x 72 in. Zinc-Plated Slotted Angle can be welded but has a high complexity level for the welding process. Please consult a welding professional or visit your local Home Depot store and ask a store associate for assistance.

A: I made a frame for my kitchen with these angles since I wanted an industrial look for it. I used the Everbilt 5/16" x 3/4" (18 gauge) zinc plated hex bolt (SKU 204281505), the Everbilt 5/16" (18 gauge) zinc plated hex nut (SKU 204274092) and the Everbilt 3/8" zinc plated lock washer (SKU 204276476)

Q:What is the precise distance from the outside edge of the bar to the center line of the slotted and round openings?

Answer This Question
A: You had to say precise...
The tolerances are pretty bad (definitely from side-to-side),as on mine, it depends a lot from whether the LEFT or RIGHT edge (not to be confused with measuring from the center FOLD of the "L"-bracket).
Also, there are elliptical shapes and circles. The elliptical shapes are occasionally flipped on their major/minor axis. Assuming the bracket is held vertically, when elliptical shape is oriented so their major axis aligns vertically, too -- then the center line is quasi-consistent with the circles, but when elliptical shape's major axis is horizontal, it is offset from the above centerline. I'll ignore that one.
So, based on limited samples from each outer edge,
- from one side, the center line is 0.5113 +- 0.145 inches
- from the other side, the center line is 0.6095 +- 0.145 inches

A: The distance from the outside edge of the bar to the centerline of the slotted and round openings on the Everbilt 1-1/2 in. x 14-Gauge x 72 in. Zinc-Plated Slotted Angle are 5/8 inch on the vertical slot and 9/16 inch on the horizontal slot/round punch. Each side has a different configuration of holes and slots. On the one side where all the holes/slots are lined up vertically, the answer would be 9/16” from edge to center.

A: We cannot advise on custom projects, but note that zinc will rust outdoors.
by|Aug 6, 2020
A: I don't believe it is heavy enough to support a garden box without bending/bucking and would rust.
It seems wood would be better suited for legs. See e.g. the one on Home Depot web page https://www.homedepot.com/p/Greenes-Fence-48-in-L-x-24-in-W-x-31-in-H-Original-Cedar-Elevated-Garden-Bed-RCEV2448/302164470
