A:  Hi, Adam. I have purchased a few of these and this is what I've done. Turn off the water supply and open the connection and look for a burr or high spot between the coupling. In my experience its always been in the concave side. Use sandpaper for metal to file down the imperfection to a smooth finish and tighten using two wrenches. I hope this will help you.

A:  Absolutely not. That seal is precision ground and works perfectly as long as you don't mis-align the coupling when installing. If the two pipes you are installing together are not straight the coupling will not work and leak. The threads are not the seal. JJK
