Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your inquiry on the Everbilt 3/4 in. Copper Pressure Cup x Cup Union Fitting. This union has female solder cup ends so in order to connect it to a solder end ball valve you would need a piece of copper tube soldered between the valve and union. If you have additional questions, you can reach a NIBCO Technical Services Advisor, M-F 8am - 5pm EST, by phone at (888) 446-4226.

A: Thank you for your inquiry on the Everbilt 3/4 in. Copper Pressure Cup x Cup Union Fitting. We do not recommend using a gasket with our unions. When installing, make sure that the ground-joint area is free of nicks and scratches. You can spray the ground-joint area with a silicone spray or beeswax to enhance seating. If you have additional questions, you can reach a NIBCO Technical Services Advisor, M-F 8am - 5pm EST, by phone at (888) 446-4226.

A: Hi, Adam. I have purchased a few of these and this is what I've done. Turn off the water supply and open the connection and look for a burr or high spot between the coupling. In my experience its always been in the concave side. Use sandpaper for metal to file down the imperfection to a smooth finish and tighten using two wrenches. I hope this will help you.

A: Absolutely not. That seal is precision ground and works perfectly as long as you don't mis-align the coupling when installing. If the two pipes you are installing together are not straight the coupling will not work and leak. The threads are not the seal.
