A: 200 pounds sounds right it is a 2 person lifting item because of how large and heavy it is. It's not an cheap top that's only an inch thick its solid wood

A: The table top is made of a type of particle board that does not have a smooth top. I put a pine table top over the board, which I also purchased from HD, glued and screwed from the underside. This made a very sturdy work table which I use in my reloading room for extra bench space.

A: Dicey for writing on. Put some clear varnish on it and it will work well. However, particle board is porous and three coats might well be needed
