A:  Hi JK10, Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 2564-RBMPU-DST has a base that is 2 3/8 inches wide. It is 6 5/16 inches long. It needs to be mounted on a 3-hole 4 inch centerset sink. Thanks. Jody

A:  This item installs 4" on center and is 9" in width.

A:  I just measured the base, the width, is 6.25".

A:  It's metal...but the base is made of very thin and flexible metal. The ones I bought each had corners that were bent upwards, as if it had been dropped lightly. The metal around the base was so thin I could move it back into place by hand. I had also already bought the shower set, tub set, and all the towel racks/rings to go with it. If I hadn't been in a hurry to install these to list my house for sale, I would have returned them for something more sturdy because the back-plates for the shower/tub levers were also very thin and the tub spout felt like plastic. No weight to it at all. I was quite disappointed considering I've always found Delta to be top quality stuff for the price.

A:  I think the faucet part is a hard plastic but thats because it will last longer. The metal faucets tend to rust. But it's pretty heavy for a faucet.
