Q:What is the difference between Delta 538T-SS-DST and Delta 15938F-SS-DST

A: Dear Homer,
Thank you for your question. The 538T-DST faucet is a Touch Proximity faucet that you're able to 'wave' your hand at the faucet to turn on and off the faucet. You can also touch the faucet to turn on as well!
The 15938T-DST is a Touch faucet only. It does not have the Touch Proximity where you can 'wave' your hand at the faucet to turn on and off.
Best regards,
Tanya

Q:What is the difference between this faucet and the Delta Lahara Model # 15938T-SS-DST? Their specs and pictures look exactly the same, but the price is $40 less on this one. Also, this faucet came up in my search for "scald guard." I understand the handle position affects the temperature, but is there a pressure guard/scald guard installed on this to regulate the water temperature coming up to the faucet? I work with young children and would rather have a faucet with it installed (there are others with it) than a separate pressure or mixing valve. Thanks!

A: Dear SunshineHappy,
Thank you for your question. The Delta Lahara Lavatory 15938T-SS-DST is a touch faucet. The Delta Lahara Lavatory 538T-SS-DST is a touch and a proximity faucet which means the user can either touch the faucet or wave their hands underneath to turn it on.
This faucet includes an integrated handle limit stop that has two positions. Setting the handle limit stop in position 2 may help to prevent scalding because it limits the amount of hot water in the mix; however, this handle limit stop will not always prevent scalding because it does not compensate for incoming pressure or sudden water temperature changes. Please page 48 of the below Quick Start Guide for this faucet, for more information on the Limit Stop.

A: AAA batteries. Each person has a sink to themselves, and we changed out the batteries 1x per year. There is a warning to indicate a change of batteries needed. Placement of the battery pack is awkward below the sink. It was too heavy to stick to the wall. So we just let it sit on a box instead.

Q:I've been assuming that it just uses cold when you touch on/off, and when you want warm/hot you use the handle, but maybe I'm wrong.

A: Yes, you do preset the temperature by adjusting the handle to the position you like. Once you have it set touch the faucet to shut off the water and leave the handle where you had it. The next time you touch the faucet the water will flow out at that setting you left it at. Remember that it may take a short while for the hot water to get hot and the cold water to get fully cold, just like a regular faucet.
To be clear, the temperature of the water coming out of the faucet will adjust to where you last left the handle, but it may take a bit for the hot water (for example) to get there from the hot water tank. Once set, all you need to do is touch the faucet.

A: I forgot to answer about the handle when the battery is out. I think the water defaults to "off", but there is a way to take the solenoid out of the loop so you can use the faucet the same as any other one. It will take a couple minutes to do, but shouldn't be hard.

A: Hi Kate,
Thank you for your question. To set the temperature on the Lahara model 538T-DST you would just turn the faucet on by hand to the temperature you desire. Touch to turn off. The handle will remain at the temperature/position you selected. It does not default to cold water. If the faucet is on when you take the battery out it will continue to work in manual mode. If the faucet is off when you take the battery out it will not work until the battery is replaced.
Thanks,
Dave

A: If you preset the temperature to cold, you will get cold water. If you set the handle to hot water then you'll get hot water. You decide on the temperature just like a normal faucet. I'm guessing you can use the handle when the battery goes out because it is suppose to work like a normal faucet when battery out.

A: Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 592T-SS-DST is a touch mode faucet. If you leave the handle in the on position, then all you have to do is touch anywhere on the faucet and it will turn on. It operates on batteries underneath the cabinet. It also has a hands-free feature and will turn on if it senses you within 4 inches of the spout. The 592-SS-DST is operated manually with the handle.

A: Thank you for your question. Yes, Delta Faucet model #538T-DST can be installed on either a 1 or 3 hole sink. A 6 1/2" (optional) escutcheon is included in the package.

A: That is most affirmative. This particular modal comes with a plastic platelet, beautifully produced in the same finish and color, that actually spans your three existing holes--in your three-hole sink; giving you a very stylish and beautiful look to your new faucet. You'll love it.
LQQKEN ... to help you out.

A: Yes, it comes with an Escutcheon which will cover your 3 holes. I didn't sue the escutcheon because I had new granite and only had 1 hole drilled.

A: Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 538T-RB-DST is not recommended for a vessel sink as it is only 7-7/8 inches tall. We do manufacture other series that can be used for vessel sinks, like the Leland series.
by|May 2, 2023
A: It depends on the height of the vessel. But it should otherwise.
