    Answer This Question

A:  Sunlight, or light from any source, triggers the sensor to turn off whatever light fixture it is connected to. If the sensor is attached to the collar of the post facing the morning sunlight and the post light is facing in the opposite direction, it might work.

    by|Aug 7, 2019

A:  I'm not sure what you mean by "collar", but it is intended for post light mounting. As long as the clear sensor is not directly in view of the light, it should be fine.

      Answer This Question

A:  The pull is negligible. Otherwise, it would be cheaper to run lights, etc. 24 hours a day. You will be pleased with this unit, mine has been very dependable - replaced once in 10 years and likely due to a power surge.

      by|Mar 3, 2019

A:  The power consume by it self is minimal and is depending on the load you connect to it (maximum load at 1800 watts). I had it connected to 2 LED porch lights at 6 watts each (equals to 40 watts regular light bulb) and stay on all night long , my power bill per month is about $30.00 (all LED lights).

        by|Mar 10, 2019

A:  !800w is the downstream load it can handle with out failing. Power usage at idle is minimal.

            Answer This Question

A:  Yes, Let the Photo Cell control the power leg that supplies power to the bulbs. When there is no light power is supplied to the circuit for the lights to come on.

            by|May 5, 2023

A:  Yes, it just needs to be connected in-line on the power wires before splitting to the 3 bulbs. (Ours switches 2 separate light fixtures, both from the same power source.)

A:  Yes, the device is suitable for that application.

                Answer This Question

A:  It is direct and passive light sensitive which depends on how the light strikes it. Direct light on surface will cause it to stay on longer because it takes a few minutes for the energy in the cell to dissipate before it releases control to energize circuit.

                by|May 5, 2023

A:  No it’s only sensitive to light at the lense. If it wasn’t working then started working when re positioned most likely a connection was loose prior to moving it if it worked after moving.

A:  I didn’t have that problem with my photocell. I just installed it and it has worked fine ever since. Sorry you’re having trouble. Michael

A:  I've used many of these in all kinds of places and all kinds of positions. I never had that problem. You must have a defective unit. Sometimes they vary as to how much light is needed to turn them on or off and there is a time delay from on to off or back to on, but that's only 60 seconds max.

                    by|May 5, 2023

A:  I wouldn’t think the position of the Photocell would make a difference since it only is triggered by light. Although I have always positioned them vertically and haven’t had any issues.

A:  The Black wire goes to Line or Power Source, the White wire goes to Common and the Red wire goes to load to control power to the Load or light. In presence of a light source hitting the photocell it will switch off power to load.

A:  I installed my sensor approximately 8' from the light fixture.

A:  You could hardwire it in a receptacle box with the power-in for your transformer as the load. I'm not sure what local codes say about this. Probably wouldn't make sense to do it this way unless your transformer is near a window or outside, as well as located between the LEDs and line voltage.
