A:  Perfect, cheap solution: electrical wire nuts. The large red ones are cheap, easy to use and air tight. https://www.homedepot.com/p/IDEAL-76B-Red-WIRE-NUT-Wire-Connectors-100-per-Bag-Standard-Package-is-2-Bags-30-076P/203734779

A:  I have had moderate success with securely wrapping the tip in a lot of masking tape or painter's tape. It's a nuisance and not fool proof. (This is a problem with caulk and really should be something DAP has thought of already.)

A:  Thank you for posting your feedback. There is no cap (for resealing) provided on any of DAP's larger cartridge sized packaging (caulks, sealants, adhesives). For resealing, DAP offers a reusable DAP CAP (sold separately). As a work-around, a small piece of plastic wrap or food grade plastic bag can be secured onto the tip with a rubber band (be sure to squeeze any excess air out before making the seal with the rubber band). Should you have additional questions or require additional guidance, please feel free to contact DAP Technical Customer Service at 888-327-8477.

A:  The best way to reseal the tube when finished is wipe the tip clean, and dip it in hot candle wax a few times. This will seal it air tight. This was my sisters Idea, from canning jellies, works great.

A:  You put a nail in the tip comparable to the size of the hole, then wrap with some electrical tape. I find, though, that Alex Plus forms it’s own seal by drying quite quickly. It has quite a long, though not indefinite, shelf life. When I want to use it again, I remove the dried caulk that has sealed over the tip, then plunge into the hole a length of coat hanger wire to reach the undried caulk.

A:  Annoying! I know. They sell all kinds of cartridge caps. Or you can use a wooden skewer , and seal it in with Saran wrap or foil. Whatever you do, don’t use a nail. It’ll rust in there . Don’t ask me how I know ! Or just toss it and buy new next time , which is what DAP is counting on, right?!  IM NOT FOND OF DAP PRODUCTS AT ALL.  I prefer SASHCO

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry on DAP ALEX FAST DRY. DAP ALEX FAST DRY is a general-purpose trim sealant, it is not designed, tested, labeled or recommended for use on "traffic surfaces" (general flooring, sidewalks, driveways, patios, decks, pool decks, stairs etc.). Traffic surface applications require the use of more specialized products, such as DAP Premium Polyurethane Adhesive Sealant. For a recommendation on the proper products and methods for this type of work, please feel free to contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

                      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP ALEX FAST DRY is a flexible caulking compound. ALEX FAST DRY is designed for use where low to moderate joint movement is expected. For application where higher joint movement is expected, we would recommend the use of softer/more flexible sealants such as DAP ALEX FLEX, DAP DYNAFLEX 230 or DAP EXTREME STRETCH. Should you have any questions or wish to discuss this, please feel free to contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "Allow 20 minutes for skin to form on caulk prior to painting with brush or roller. Can be spray painted immediately with latex paint. Allow additional dry time in high humidity or cool temperatures." As a general rule, it is recommended to allow the caulk/sealant to dry longer when applying "enamel" (oil-based coatings). Should you have any additional questions or require further assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

A:  Thank you for posting your inquiry. Given that all silicone-based products act as bond breakers, we would not expert that this product or any similar acrylic latex (water based) caulk/sealant would bond/adhere properly. Should you have any additional questions or require further assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

A:  Thank for posting your inquiry. While this product would be appropriate for this type of project, we would generally recommend the use of a more flexible sealant such a DAP DYNAFLEX 230 or DAP DYNAFLEX ULTRA.

A:  According to manufacturers marketing copy, it should be fine. You may want to compare to products with higher percentage of silicone if you are worried about adhesion.
