A:  No. The shutters are too light weight to be used as a door. They are like a shell as opposed to solid

A:  We recently had our house painted a creamy beige with dark brown trim. We bought these shutters for the windows across the front of the house. They are a rich brown but not as dark as the trim. They definitely look brown not black. Hope my comment and attached photo helps you.

A:  Federal Brown is the color we ended up choosing. We ordered a few different colors to hold them up to the house, before we made our final decision. To me, Federal Brown is between "milk chocolate" and "dark chocolate", nothing near black. It's a rich brown color.

A:  Yes, I live in Colorado and mine are in direct southern exposure. I didn't try painting them because it was easier to buy new ones.

A:  No, mine have been in southern exposure for the past few years and have not faded at all.

A:  Yes, they will fade. The ones we had on our house when we bought it were the green ones, and we replaced them after 13 years. Some faded more than others depending on their location on the house and we get full sun also. We replaced them with the exact same style but switched them to the black ones. I believe if you used a primer like kilz they would paint well.

A:  I bought and installed these a few years ago. Our house faces North and sees considerable sun for extended hours during the day. So far they have not faded or weathered at all.

A:  Yes they will fade over a period of time but they can be painted

A:  Mine have not and they are in direct daily in Florida.

A:  All shutters will fade over time especially in the direct light. We painted ours at the 12 year mark. We used a paint sprayer and outdoor latex with great results.

A:  I don't think so but the colors online are extremely close to what you are looking for.

A:  I ordered them online and chose to pick them up at a Home Depot nearby.

A:  Hi - I bought about 24 of these (for around my house) and it is very hard to trim these. If you are successful, they don’t look good trimmed

A:  No, I wouldn't. The perimeter "boards" of the shutters are not solid (i.e. not 1" thick like a wood shutter would be). The "boards" are actually quite thin, and there is decorative strip of plastic on the sides (to make the "boards" appear to be a 1" thick piece). If you trim off any side of this shutter, that decorative strip will be gone, you be able to look in behind the shutter, and it will be obvious that it's only a thin piece of plastic. That might not matter to you if it's abutting something that's the same height....but with time the shutter may not stay flat.

A:  I don’t think that they can be trimmed because they are bendable plastic and are finished with a lip on every edge. It would be noticeable and odd-looking if trimmed.

A:  there is a lip (about 1 in.) all the way around and only about 1.5" before you would be cutting into the louvers.I wouldn't recommend trimming them.

A:  They're made of flexible vinyl, so I guess you could, but it would look weird.

A:  The dimensions of the product are as follows: 71.813"L x 1"T x 14.5"W.
