A: No light
A: No, the saw does not have a light.
A: Thank you for your question. The JS470EB does not have a light however we do offer the JS572EBL that comes with an LED light that can be switched on or off: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-7-2-Amp-Corded-Barrel-Grip-Jig-Saw-JS572EBL/203370182?keyword=bosch+js572ebl
A: correct
A: no light to my knowledge
A: this has a wheel that you can set the speed you want. it doesnt have a trigger that you can change the speed. you have to turn the wheel
A: Whatever you are more comfortable with. Personally, I like the dial. It lets me choose the speed and not worry about my touch on the trigger.
A: Thank you for your question. The design of the barrel grip jigsaw has a slide on/off switch, the variable speed dial allows you to adjust the speed since there is not a trigger. We also offer this model in a top handle version JS470E that has a variable speed dial as well as variable speed trigger switch. It is a personal preference using the barrel grip vs. the top handle style which is why we offer both options.
A: Variable speed controlled trigger switch on Model JS470E only Variable speed dial on the back side of them all
A: This saw has an on - off switch that stays in either position. There is a speed dial above the power cord.
A: yes
A: Thank you for your question. The Bosch JS470EB barrel grip jigsaw has a variable speed dial. The blade stroke rate may be adjusted by presetting the dial on or between any one of six numbered settings ranging from 500-3,100 spm.
A: There is a dial on the rear of the saw that let's you select the most appropriate speed for the material you are cutting. The dial on the rear of the barrel--grip (see the picture) is numbered 1–6 but you are not limited to just the six speeds. You can set the dial where you need it. There is a guide in the owner's manual for which speed is best for what material. So, Not a continuously variable speed saw in the way you control the speed with how tight you pull the the trigger but still the speed is variable and precisely selectable
A: Yes BUT it is on the back, NOT the trigger, at least in the barrel grip model. I find this annoying, the side switch is the biggest downside to this saw, it stays on, so do not drop it as it will stay running. I prefer the variable speed in my trigger finger to have much better control. This has been my main gripe, also it is louder and courser sounding and feeling, in comparison to older Bosch jigsaws like the 1578 or older yet. Those tools were very smooth, quiet, and felt simply better in your hand running. Festool has the best feel imo, but it is pricey.
A: The barrel saw has an on-off switch that clicks on or off and stays in either position. There is a dial above the power cord to adjust speed. The top handle model has a variable trigger with the same max speed dial
A: Thank you for your question. The Bosch JS470EB accepts T-shank blades. If you will only be cutting wood our T10RC blade set has a variety of blades for hard and soft woods with a variety of tooth designs for fast, fine or scrolll cutting: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-T-shank-Wood-Jig-Saw-Blades-10-Pack-T10RC/202242134 If you will also be cutting metal, a good choice would be our T15RC blade set which includes an assortment of wood and metal cutting blades: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-T-shank-Wood-Metal-Jig-Saw-Blades-15-Pack-T15RC/202242135#specifications
A: bosh,! makes the rite blades for this tool. you will NOT be dissatisfied with there blade kits.!
A: Home depot has a Bosch variety pack of t-shank blades for about $20. Comes with rough wood blades, fine cutting wood blades, and some metal/miscellaneous blades. I've had no problems with them so far.
A: I bought the Jig Saw at Home Depot online. I purchased the blades at the store. You get what you pay for in blades. I purchased Bosh.
A: I have the BoschT-shank Wood/Metal Jig Saw Blades (15-Pack) and have been pleased with them. The set includes blades for every common job or material you might need.
A: It should be available right now online at www.Homedepot.com. I just bought mine about one month ago.
A: Hi, Thank you for asking. This item is estimated to return to stock mid-February 2013.
A: Check at Home Depot online. I had to do some searching until I found the saw I wanted, but it was worth it.
A: No. When the screw is loosened from under the machine, the baseplate slides front to back to engage a 90 degree notch. It stops either way at 45. The scale is small with mediocre accuracy.
A: Thank you for your question. The footplate may be tilted to allow angle cuts up to 45 degrees in either direction. The detent slots will hold the footplate firmly at 0 degrees. The footplate is free swinging with position marks for 15, 22.5, 30 and 45 degree angles. Intermediate angles may be set with a protractor. After positioning the footplate, securely tighten the footplate screw.
A: The base is loosened by a hex nut under the base. A hex wrench is included and slides into the back of the base for storage. When loosened, the base slides front to back slightly to drop into a 90 detent. There are no other detents
A: YES it has detents for commonly used angles. See photo.
A: Nice plastic case.
A: Comes with a plastic storage/carry case.
A: It comes with a hard plastic ? case. There is a reasonable amount of space to roll the cord and replace it. The case pack of blades will also fit inside. Seems like it will last
A: It does come with a sturdy Bosch standard blue case.
A: Yes a nice small, sturdy blue bosch case with spaces for several bits, guides etc. I really like the case. It appears to be rugged plastic. It is NOT one of the professional, stackable cases.
A: nice box, however the power cord is so long that its a bit of a chore to get it all stuffed away., but that's actually a good thing..
A: Carry case
A: YES. A blue plastic box with a small blade compartment within. The only problem is the cord placement when closing the lid. The box is custom shaped for the Bosch Jig Saw and the new cord is kind of springy...wants to unravel or get caught in the lid when closing it.
A: It comes with a heavy duty plastic case. Seems durable and doesn't take up much space.
A: Thank you for your question. The Bosch JS470EB comes with a hard carrying case.
A: not really sure its between 5 pounds and 8 pounds in weight it does not feel like it has any weight when using it
A: 5.9 Lbs per the Bosch website. The JS572 weighs a Lb less, 4.9. Not sure why the 7.2v weighs less than the 7.0v model. They seem very close comparison, too close in fact. I wish Bosch made a much lighter model for super accuracy without the big motor which is usually over powered. The only finesse jigsaw I found was the Festool Carver which is nice but pricey.
A: Our JS470EB weighs 5.9 pounds.
A: i dont know the exact weight but this very heavy. it is pretty much a 2 handed tool. unless you have very large hands
A: About 9 lbs in the case. Saw only? I'd say about 7lb.
A: a lot ! / very heavy bro, this is a shop tool , not tool belt friendly.
A: I have the Barrel grip and it's weighs about 5 pounds. My hands are average to large and it was easy to handle.
A: I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but it feels heavier than a dewalt model I used to own. But the weight definitely makes it easier to control and maneuver.
A: The "sl" denotes that the case is part of Bosch's new line of the "L-Boxx" series. Some other models of the 1590/1 are the "sk" which includes Bosch's standard case. As for the "red" button, I believe it is part of the "precision control" that when activated places two pieces of metal next the blade to reduce blade wander. This is not included in the new JS470e/b models. They state it has "internal precision control". As for if the precision control works, I don't know if it actually has any effect.
A: The 1591EVSL features an external Precision Control (red button) blade guidance, One Touch blade change, a tool-less large aluminum footplate and the new L-BOXX interlocking case. The JS470EB has an internal Precision Control, two handed blade insertion, one handed blade ejection, large aluminum footplate with tool to adjust, and a blow molded carrying case.
A: The red button on the 1591evsl, turns the blower on - off. It clears dust off your line. The js470EB does not have this blower
A: Jeff...if you are still out there...2years later there are a few differences: The JS470E does not have the two side guides for the blade and you need a tool to loosen the base for bevel cuts. The 1590/1591's have a lever release and some folks say the blade guides are better. I recently bought the JS470E for several reasons: I removed the base plate and installed a Collins Coping Foot tool in it's place. This was one of the recommended models for it. The only red button I am aware of is the variable speed control at the tail end of the motor. I install a lot of crown moulding with coping cuts for most inside corners. The JS470E is a great jig saw in my opinion.
