Q:Can I cut sod with this
by|May 6, 2022

Answer This Question

A:  If the sod is planted, not loose, yes. It is for edging or trenching next to concrete.

A:  The edge guide is useful for cutting a straight path along sidewalks. For landscaping or trenching in the yard the edge guide can interfere with moving the edger through hard soil or sod. The edge guide can be adjusted so that the tool will also perform TRENCHING and LANDSCAPING operations. Ticket #4376063.

A:  I wouldn’t use this edger for cutting sod.  I use to edge my side walk and driveway.  Wheel can rest on concrete for support.  It does have sharp blade you can injure yourself.   Be careful.

A:  I was able to cut through roots with a 1 1/2 depth to lay an invisible fence. I hope this helps.

Q:Does the cutting depth get deeper when converted to landscape trencher? If so, what is the depth?

          Answer This Question

A:  I don't believe the cutting depth is changed when converted to landscape trencher. By changing the setting, all you are doing is taking the edge-guide out of the way, so it does not drag

          by|May 21, 2022

A:  Has three cutting depths. 1 in, 1.25 in and 1.5 in. Your choice to how deep you want to go. Works great.

            Answer This Question

A:  A google search says that GENERALLY the depth is between 3" and 5", but ranging between 1" to 24". With a brand new blade, set on the lowest setting, it will do approximately 1-1/2" to 1-3/4". The blade will dull/shorten the more rocks and concrete that you hit. hth

            by|Apr 16, 2022

A:  Yes this unit would work for that application. The Maximum Cutting Depth (in.) = 1.5

              by|Apr 17, 2022

A:  I would say yes. I trenched for flower beds and other things and it did a good job.

A:  I use a 100', 16ga cord to run mine. Seems to power it fine. Although, my first one let out the smoke after about three years. Might have been because of the voltage drop of the cord or not, I'm not sure.

A:  Mine is 4 years old and still OK. My neighbors have this same edger, one is 14 years old and except for wearing out the blade, still working OK. There must be a way that you can trace the wiring between the plug and the motor. Probably need an ohm meter to check for continuity.

A:  It is not adjustable. The fixed length I can only assume keeps body parts as far away from the blade as ergonomically practical while providing the leverage to control it for edging and trenching.

A:  No, it won't work for what you describe. This item is an edger, generally used to cut/slice vertically along sidewalks and driveways for a neatly-edged look. You may be thinking more along the lines of a string trimmer for your task, or better, a small hand-held clipper.

A:  The handle doesn't adjust as you describe, but maybe you are looking at the wrong product. This an an edger, not a grass trimmer. It has a hard vertical blade. While it does tilt 45 degrees, I can't see how that would trim grass no matter what. If you want the grass all dug up, this might do it; it can be used a a shallow trencher. But unless you want to dig little 1 1 1/2" grooves in the grass, you need a line trimmer or something.
