Answer This Question
A: Either F-style, bar, spring, screw or parallel clamps would be fine as long as the jaw pad is cushioned so as to not mar the work surface. Experience would guide you to not over-tighten the clamp. For me personally, I like parallel clamps for this situation.

Answer This Question
A: Plastic. Very little "rubber" on most tools sold today.. Still, they grip well and I would say without hesitation that these are the best clamps I've ever owned; I use them all the time.

Q:Is the specified clamping force of 1000lbs, for force in all directions?

Answer This Question
A: The clamp is designed to apply a linear clamping force between the two ends of the clamp, so, the answer would be NO, it does not apply force in all directions.

A: I'm not a clamp expert, but I believe the 1000 lb force is CLAMPING force.... or for that is parallel to the bar.

A: I'm not certain but I believe it is about 800lbs.
It is intended for light duty applications like woodworking where surface marring is a concern.
