A: Hi K7MPZ,
Behr Semi-Transparent Concrete Stain requires a one-coat minimum application and should not have more than two thin coats applied. You should only need one gallon for your radio room. Bare concrete should be etched. Interior concrete can be etched with a floor grinder. Home Depot usually has great rental options available. Best of luck with your project!

Q:Can you use this over concrete countertops that the dye didn't take?

Answer This Question
A: I would test it on a separate piece first to make sure you like it because it is not solid, it is semi-transparent. Or maybe you could try underneath first if possible.

A: Hi Tnmonty,
Great question! As it turns out, none of our products should be applied to countertops or surfaces that may come in direct contact with food because we're not FDA-approved. I recommend working with your local Home Depot to find an FDA-approved coating for your project. Best of luck!

A: Hi carrie,
Thank you for your question. The Dark Coal looks slightly darker from plain concrete. You can try looking into using Water Stone instead. Keep in mind that the colors may look different when applied, as it gets affected by lighting, their surroundings and the color of the concrete. Because of this, I recommend trying it in a small test area first. Also, if you prefer to just use a sealer, I'd recommend using our Wet-Look or Low-Lustre Sealer (https://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-Premium-1-gal-Wet-Look-Sealer-98501/202263927). I hope this was helpful, and best of luck on your project. -Edith

A: We used dark coal and it was really nice, not too dark but test it first to see if you like the outcome. Note that it is semi-transparent so patterns show through which is what we wanted.

A: Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,
We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is , Thanks for writing in. No, the Behr Premium Semi-Transparent Concrete Stain isn’t suitable for a fireplace hearth. This product doesn’t have heat or fire resistance benefits. I suggest reaching out to your local Home Depot for a suitable product recommendation.

A: Hi Tom,
Thank you for your question. Since our Semi-Transparent Concrete Stain is only designed for horizontal surfaces, it would be best to look into using something else instead. However, our interior paints would work for your fireplace hearth, as long as it doesn't get too hot to touch while the fireplace is being used. I hope this was helpful, and best of luck. -Edith

A: Hi Pat,
Thanks for your interest in our products. The Semi-Transparent should not be used on vertical siding, so you would want to consider a different product. The stain is very, very thin, and would probably sag and drip if applied on the siding of the house. Instead, I would suggest something like our Exterior Premium Plus Ultra Paint. It offers good coverage, and dries to a durable finish. I hope this was informative, and please feel free to reach out directly to our Customer Care Department if you have any other questions or concerns. Have a good rest of your day, and best of luck with your project - Vince

A: We didn't apply a primer or etch because it was used only on the driveway so did not take it that seriously but love the result. If you want a perfect look then you should follow Behr's recommendations.

A: Hi Smitty, thanks for writing in with your question. Our Semi-Transparent Stain is mildew resistant. The surface needs to be clean and dry, and any mold/mildew needs to be cleaned and killed. I suggest checking with your local store for a recommendation on a cleaner/product to use. Also, make sure that the concrete is etched before applying the stain. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna
