      Q:I've been using the Behr Oil-Latex Redwood Stain No. 9 on my porch which slightly shows the grain of the wood. I'd like the same effect but a darker color. Could I use this ST-104 Semi-Transparent Cordovan Brown to simply paint over it to make it darker?

      A:  Hi DesertDude, thank you for your question. As it turns out, our Transparent and Semi-Transparent Exterior Wood Stains are designed for bare and uncoated surfaces. However, the Oil-Latex Redwood Stain can be topcoated with a water-based stain that is okay for coated wood. I recommend reaching out to your local Home Depot for more information about which product would work best for your project. -Lina

Our Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Stain & Sealer is a great option for newer wood as it will preserve the look of the grain and keep the surface protected. However, if you prefer an opaque coating that will cover the look of the wood grain, I recommend using our Solid Color Waterproofing Stain & Sealer.                 A:  Hi Jane, thank you for your question. Our pre-tinted Solid Color Waterproofing Stain & Sealer in Cedar Naturaltone is only available in a gallon size. However, you can purchase the untinted stain in a 5-gallon size, base #5013, and have that tinted to the color. Have a great day! -Lina

                  A:  Hello, thank you for your question. To prep your fence, we recommend using the All-In-One Wood Cleaner No. 63. The cleaner will prepare the wood and open up the pores. Allow the wood to dry completely before staining. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna
