Answer This Question

A:  They are for connecting the fitting and pipe together. The difference between the standard crimp ring and this Pro crimp ring is, this one has a red stop that will hold the ring in placed and wont allow it to slip off the pipe.

Q:I am using the 3/4 in. Copper Pro Crimp Ring, I have the crimp tool on the lowest setting and I check the crimp and at times it shows I am over crimping, what can I do differently. to achieve a "go" crimp.

            Answer This Question

A:  First of all, let’s clarify a “go” and a “no-go” status.  On your gauge, you should have both of those for the 3/4” size. One should just slip over the crimp giving a “go” status. The other should not slip over the crimped ring, giving a “no-go” status. An over crimped ring would allow both of them to slip over the crimped ring, whereas an under crimped ring would prevent both from slipping over the ring. If this isn’t happening, what I would do it adjust your crimper all the way in one direction, crimp a ring by itself, then adjust the tool all the way in the other direction and crimp another ring to measure and compare the two. You should then be able to determine if the gauge and the crimper are working and if either or both are defective.
