A:  A rough-in valve is required.

    A:  This unit comes with valves. American Standard advises that the Heritage diverter valve trim that it comes with is specific to the valve provided with the system. While the shower system is depicted with Portsmouth valve trim, it is not provided. The American Standard representative advised that the Heritage diverter valve trim is not interchangeable with the Portsmouth valve trim because the valve provided is specific to the Heritage (really???? American Standard has a different valve for each of their valve trims????) and therefore would not replace it,
