Q:Why does one photo of handrails show a Handrail that is not “Code” ? ( you can’t have a newel post with light in middle of handrail) “ Handrails shall be continuous for the full length of the flight, from a point directly above the top riser…”

Answer This Question
A: Sgtmclain, these moulded handrails are 6 ft. in length. The picture of the stair railing shows a set of stairs that are longer than then 6 ft. length. Because of this, there is a post in the center than connects the two stair railing sections, providing railing for the entire length of the stairs. Due to various building codes, it's always best to ensure a certain product will be code compliance in your specific region prior to installation.

A: Searching for model numbers on the Home Depot website does not work well. Searching for Model # 317785 (with or without enclosing quotation marks) returned 100 results. Searching just 317785 comes up with three results: two area rugs and a french door.
