Q:Can the right side drain inlet be 2". Our shower is on the right hand side of the toilet and per NC code it needs to have a 2" drain inlet. It shows the shower on the right in the pic but in the installation guide it says its 1.5" on the right inlet.

Q:How far away from the vent pipe can you be?
    by|Feb 10, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  I am sorry I am not sure I understand your question. This unit must be vented. A vent line must run from this unit back to a main stack that goes up through the roof. Therefore, I am not sure what you mean by distance from a vent. If you are asking how far a vent line can run from the stack, that would depend on the plumbing code in your state. Plumbing code varies from state to state, and its interpretation varies by inspector. For this question you would need to speak to a local qualified licensed plumber or the plumbing inspector in your town. This unit must be vented, a mechanical vent or air admittance valve will not work.

Q:What is the best way to fasten the toilet to the floor?
      by|Feb 2, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  That would ultimately depend on what the floor is made of. Since concrete is the most common let me share with you how I would do that. I would first set the toilet in what will be its final installation location. Then using a sharpie mark onto the concrete, the location of the anchoring points. At those points I would drill holes in the concrete to receive ¼” wedge anchors. I would install wedge anchors. The length of the anchors would depend on how deep the holes are drilled. I would tighten the nuts up to set the wedge anchor into the concrete. Then remove the nuts and wash. I can then set the bowl onto the floor and ends of the wedge anchors should stick up through the bolt holes in the bottom of the toilet bowl. Using the nuts and washers I can now attach the bowl do the wedge anchors that are attached to the floor.

Q:Can this be used in a wet vent system? My house has only one stack, both vent and drain. Can I tie into this or do I need to put in another vent?

        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Per the manufacturer’s technical department, you can. However, they recommend you tie it at the highest point possible and also make sure it is tied to the top of the pipe if the stack runs horizontally. For further questions or explanation Saniflo can be reached at 732 305 2200.

            Dissapointed
Had the system installed by a professional. Less than a week later the macerating pump would not function. No paper towels, sanitary pads, or anything unusual flushed down the toilet. Used the approved extender to leave room between wall and toilet. Pump shut down, would just rumble a little after flushing. Eventually had to separate toilet from the pump to locate the problem. Bathroom flooded with solid waste material, toilet paper and urine that was just sitting in the tube even after trying to remove as much of the liquid as possible. Baseboard, flooring and sinkbase ruined by the solid waste sticking to everything. I think the .5 HP is not enough power for even everyday use. Waiting for a replacement. Going to ask if there is any way to upgrade to the Saniflow Best pump with more power. Thank God the motor is still under warranty. This entire system cost me over $1200.

My instal was for a detached garage approximately 75 ft from sewer main, slight downward grade through hard coral rock. I used 3/4 pvc as 4" drain would not have been practical. The pump is quieter than expected-nothing as loud as macerator pump on a boat toilet-it is barley louder than standard flush. I have tested it multiple times. It generates a lot of pressure for the thinner than expected rubber fittings to the 3/4 pvc. I have had to tighten hose clamps on these fittings a few times to stop leaks-thus don't put them behind a wall with out access. Also with my down hill discharge I will need to instal a vacuum breaker at apex of 3/4 line. HD sells these about $20, without it will siphon from pump tank to less than recommended water level. I do think this is a great product- with shower and sink capacity this would be ideal for basement or cottage/cabin with challenging or up hill septic tank location- or for an awesome garage man cave.

High quality product, well packaged, all parts to connect to the utilities are included. Most time consuming was running vent pipe to outside of building, extending copper plumbing to supply the toilet with cold water and the discharge pipe from the toilet into the sewer system. The actual set-up and connection of the Saniflo system can be done in 2-3 hours if all utility piping is in place. Installation instructions provided in form of pictures and verbal description. It took 2 months from the time I ordered the toilet until it arrived in Maui.
