BEHR's best wood finish, this advanced 100% acrylic formula delivers complete protection from the elements for up to 4 years on decks and 6 years on fences and siding. The silicone-fortified formula delivers excellent protection from the sun's harmful UV rays. BEHR Premium Waterproofing Wood Finish is available in 3 pre-mix colors as well as 6 custom colors to reveal the beauty of your wood surface.

Q:Grabbing the can and reading clear and transparent I didn’t expect this to yellow in spots. 1 can I remove this product once applied or 2 can I use a solid stain over this.

A: Hello, thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear that the finish did not turn out as expected. The Transparent Finish will have a slight tint for UV protection. Once applied, you can remove it using a wood finish stripper. You can also, use a Solid Color Wood Stain over it. Please reach out to us directly if you have any other questions or concerns. Q:Can you thin down Behr transparent waterproof wood finish. I think mine might have been subject to some freezing. It appears to be ok, it is just slightly congealed. I have used it on some test pieces and seems ok just thick. What is your advice?

A: Hi Mary, thank you for your question. As it turns out, we don't recommend thinning the Premium Transparent Wood Finish. Instead, it's best to thoroughly stir the contents for 3-5 minutes, which should result in a watery-like/liquid consistency. If this does not resolve the consistency, we recommend replacing this with a new container. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance. A: Hi Justd, thank you for your question. As it turns out, we don't recommend applying the Premium Semi-Transparent Wood Finish with a pump sprayer. Instead, an airless sprayer can be used to apply the stain in small sections, lightly saturating the surface and back brushing to prevent puddling, remove excess, and evenly distribute the stain. Not clear, peels, do not buy

This is all around terrible product. Followed instructions and the color is uneven and peeling off already after it dried. I painted my whole fence with this crap, now I have to remove it and start all over—with a DIFFERENT product (obviously).

The sealer was very easy to apply. I put it in a garden sprayer, sprayed it on the fence, wiped it around with a rag, and it turned out wonderful.

Here comes the sun

Holy yellow color. This stain absolutely utterly ruined my doors. I'm appalled. I used expensive hardwood and it's all for nothing. I'm so mad.

Definitely not clear

I took a beautiful piece of exterior wood, and it turned it yellow, hiding most all of the grain, this is the product that the Home Depot associate said was best for my project. I wish i would’ve bought a different product from a different manufacturer. I have not been having the best luck with Behr lately. They are overpriced for the quality product that they are now producing. I guess it’s back to Benjamin Moore.

TURNS WOOD DECKS YELLOW!!

Purchase this product because Olympic was out of stock of the clearcoat. I thought that the clearcoat would just be applied and look normal, boy was wrong! As soon as I open up the can, it had a yellow tint to it, so I started stirring it. When I applied it, it was not easy to apply and took some time for it to be coated on the wood. I waited over three days to dry. As soon as the water started, hitting my wood deck, it started turning yellow as you could see in the pictures. Awful product.

Only use on pine

This product is incredibly uniform. It's labelled as a "clear, transparent" sealer. If you appreciate the beauty of cedar, this is not for you. Even after a LOT of sanding (belt and palm)... it seems to have deeply stained the underlying wood. I'm incredibly unhappy with this product. In the image, you can see the Behr on the left, Thompsons' Water Seal in the middle, and untreated cedar on the right.

NOT CLEAR! It is an opaque butterscotch color

OMG, I could not believe they call this "clear". I put this product on my log cabin and it is definitely more of an orange STAIN. I thought it must have been a mismarked batch, so I called customer service. They said the UV chemicals they use give it this color and it will be the same on all of their UV protected products! Why call it CLEAR then???!!!

Looks great, but definitely not a clear finish.

Although this product is labeled as a clear finish, it actually produced a beautiful caramel color on the pressure treated lumber we used for our deck. Really happy with the look and ease of application.
