Install flashing kit will ensure no leaks when installed per instructions.
Make sure you purchase the installation kit mine was the deck mount. Have had three heavy rain storms and no leaks.

We are sorry to hear this flashing kit did not meet the needs of your application. The ECL 2246 flashing is designed specifically to fit VELUX curb mounted 2222, 2230, 2234 and 2246 models with an outside curb width of 25-1/2 in. and maximum length of 49-1/2 in.

Finally figured out and a Better product than somebody made flashing
ECL saves time and effort to have a fit for specific skylight. To take out shingles and to reinstall them around skylight is more time consuming than flashing kit. To remove shingles is a top down approach, to install is bottom up. The top portion of saddle flashing has to be tucked under roofing underlayment such as felt. Side flashing interweaves with shingle. Sill flashing sit on top of finishing shingles. These will let water flow properly.

Great product but the average buyer from a home supply...
Great product but the average buyer from a home supply store installs these in an existing roof. No directions or even a hint as to how to go about installing in an existing roof. And then there is the issue of a crank to open the window. No crank. Their excuse is that it is installed in ceilings of various heights so they don't include a crank. And the only crank they sell after the fact is a 3 section one that is very expensive. Why not include a base unit that can be extended by buy more sections?
