Not sure what I expected

We are still building it but -so far so good

I ordered the 513 set for our daughter and wanted to get it set up as soon as possible so I printed off the lumber list. However, after we got the wood and cut it all up, we found that the lumber plans were for the 512 set. I assumed that the digital plans were for the set I ordered. Both sets of plans were online, but it would make sense that they were separate pdf file. As we got it up, we realized that there weren't near enough lag screws for it and can't buy them anywhere local. When we finally got the swing beam up and found the swing hardware wasn't long enough for the 4"x6" beam. 3 times we had to stop work on this. We are not expert builders, but I don't feel we should have to be. Now we will have to spend more money to buy lag screws and new swing hardware that should have been included. It doesn't seem right. The project that we thought would take us 2 days, has now been over 4. The swingset seems like it will be great once we can get it completed, but It's hard to see my little girl disappointed because she still can't play on it.

I purchased this kit because of the flexibility it seemed to offer, and because it was supposed to contain all of the hardware I would need to build a play set. My expectation was that this kit would limit the number of headaches faced when building the play set. I expected there to be a few minor issues with regard to following the plans, but that things would otherwise go smoothly; I was wrong. The following are just some of the issues that came about with this kit: 1. The kit was supposed to contain a t-30 driver bit, it didn't. This is a rather large torx bit, and not one that your average person would have (hence it's supposed inclusion in the kit). This made it impossible for me to utilize the supplied lag screws (which, by the way were of extremely low quality). I ended up going to the store and purchasing one. We called the company as soon as we noticed this, and they did say they would reimburse us the cost of the bit. 2. The brackets in the kit were stamped incorrectly. The stamps were supposed to indicate how they should have been oriented on the 4x4, but they were stamped on the wrong side. We did not notice this until getting a few steps into the plans. At which point we called the company a second time, and they said there should have been an amendment included the plans; there wasn't and this set us back at least an hour. 3. The supplied bolts that were supposed to go through the beam supporting the swings were too short. In addition, two of them were missing. I ended up purchasing different bolts - a second trip to the store. At this point I contemplated dismantling the set and returning the severely inadequate kit but I decided it was easier to work around the (ridiculous) issues I kept finding. 4. The quick links for connecting the swing to the chain were missing - another trip to the store. If you are thinking about purchasing this kit, I would make sure you purchase it early, and double check that all of the pieces are included. Given this experience, I suggest that you forego the kit. Not only was I extremely disappointed in the lack of quality control, I also feel that the brackets and supplied hardware are sub-par. Bottom line: Find another option.

My son is loving it’ me my husband and our kids spend an awesome time setting it up. It was so fun just love it.

This is the best value for your dollar to build a swing set with your own lumber. Excellent instructions and quality hardware. I wish it included more climbing rocks than 4, but it is a separate purchase. It includes most screws needed. The instructions clearly state extra screws needed to complete.

I wanted to purchase a bigger more stable playset. This really fit the bill! Although the manual says 4-6 hours to assemble, don't kid yourself on that... It takes about 1 hr just to cut all pieces of wood to size. I would say all and all it took about 10 -12 hours. Its fun to build if you are a woodworking and the manual, to me, was good and understandable. About $270 for the hardware ($167 for hardware and $99 for a slide). You'll have to buy about 6 pounds of screws (maybe $30) and wood costs me around $500. All and all, my kids are happy that its so big and I'm happy it's sturdy and not some small, cheap redwood playset I see so many of!

The plans were good and well illustrated. The time to build is way under estimated. The biggest problem is that the hardware begins to rust after 1 season. The rock wall hardware in particular was almost rusted out in 1 year. Had to replace the connectors with stainless steel to prevent the problem. The connectors on the main structure have had to be repainted after 1 year as well. If you buy this set, give the connectors another coat of paint and toss the rock wall connectors and buy replacements. Set is not designed for Louisiana rain fall. Also, install rocks on the rock wall with the hole in the rock pointed down, otherwise it fills with water and adds to the rust issue.

Was a bit overwhelming with all the wood to cut. We decided to just use parts and pieces with a simpler plan. If you are handy with wood this is a great deal.

Very Misleading. All Hardware Not included. Not all the features shown in the picture were Not included. Instructions are Poorly written. Assembly time is Much Longer than Specified.

The plans and the materials in the kit are excellent. The "cut" list for the lumber and the detailed instructions were easy to follow. They have done a wonderful job of making the project straight forward. The only negatives I have are they failed to let you know in advance that you will have to buy 5 pounds of deck screws for the project. This created another trip back to Home Depot to purchase the screws. The only other issue is the time to construct. Their estimate of 6 to 8 hours is vastly understated. I stained the pieces before I put them up and that slowed the project, but it is easier to stain on the ground than on a ladder. I did the project by myself and a helper would have speeded the construction greatly if just to hold pieces and to help with the heavy lifting at the beginning and middle of the project. My estimate without staining would be 30 hours. I do a fair amount of woodworking and know how to read plans and run woodworking tools. Still not bad for a project of this size. On balance I give the product A+. My grand kids will like the end results.

This is a great kit, you will need some skill putting it all together. The kit came with several instruction books, be careful to pick the one for the kit you are building, don't ask me how I know. The instructions say 4 to 6 hours to build. IF you have 6 very skilled people that time could be met. So far it has taken 2 1/2 day for 2 people and we still have another day left. Other than that it is going to be great for the grand kids, it is solid.

Ok, this thing is called the Swing N Slide.....and it doesn't come with a slide? Misleading a little bit?

You have to purchase many other items in addition to $175. BE SURE TO ACCOUNT FOR ALL ITEMS TO PACKING LIST, OTHERS REPORTED THAT THEY HAD TO CALL IN MISSING ITEMS, I DID TOO! Plans seem to overstate the amount of lumber that you need!
