Maybe mine were made from a bad batch of steel. None of the three in the set will hold an edge doing light duty in softwood.I have sharpen out the knicks after every day of use and I'm only using them to clean out rabbets and channels in softwood. Finish carpentry. I'm not beating on them. Plus, the slightest drop of moisture not wiped away and they rust immediately. A little bit of water based glue left on the blade over lunch and I come back to rust stains. Low grade steel. In both pics, these are chisels used for half a day by me only, after wet stone sharpening. I prefer not to use my high quality chisels on sites where my junior crew need to borrow tools like these because they quickly destroy them, but these don't hold up even with careful use. Didn't expect a lot for the price, but expected more than this from a tool branded De walt.

I used these to finish craving out corners for a mantle I am working on. It's a 1800's log cabin, wow is it some hard wood. But that's tools got the job done.

I have done custom moldings throughout my home, and in many areas I have ended up with tight corners which has required small and/or odd-shaped trim moldings to fit the space. With many required cuts being so small, it did not make sense to cut the wood with a saw. This chisel set was perfect for that: the serrated edge allowed me to cross cut down to the depth I needed for the cut, and the side-strike blade gave me more control to carefully carve out the rest of the cut with the grain--think of whittling. These chisels gave me the control to carefully slice small pieces of wood out to shape the molding. Doors: If you have ever replaced a door, door frame, and/or door hardware, you may be among many who have realized the frustration of the door hardware not fitting in the door because the factory didn't make the cut quite right. I encountered this with new door hardware, so I used a chisel from the set to slowly slice away slivers of wood from the door frame, eventually getting the hardware to fit in. Bonus: the serrated edges are excellent for rounding corners on small pieces! Some of the moldings were small enough to be awkward sanding, so carving the serrated chisel edge down the corner edge saved a lot of time. I would recommend these as a must-have for anyone doing custom woodworking at home. Having three sizes is convenient as well. A chisel set is something I didn't know I needed until I needed it; now it comes in handy for many projects!

These chisels have a nice weight and feel to them. Feel very comfortable in my hands with a large rubber grip. Well balanced. Each chisel comes with a hard plastic protective enclosure that easily snaps into place. The blade of each chisel is very sharp and can be used for side cutting, serrated cutting or as a standard wood chisel. The cutting edge on the side of the chisel can double as a scraper. Each chisel has a steel strike cap for durability. The 3 sizes are 3/4in., 1in., 1-1/4in. Also comes with a lifetime warranty

This set is used many times a week.. It has held it’s edge and is very useful.. I would recommend this set to anyone doing construction, woodworking, or home improvements..

Exactly what I have been looking for

I guess that I should have checked before purchasing. As the were packaged I used since the middle of the pack that were the other 3 chisels would complete a set of 4. I already had the 1 1/2. I probably would have not purchased this set.

I upgraded my demolition chisels to DeWalt. It does a great job on creating nooks or trimming down 2x4s. I keep one size in my tool belt and the others in my shop. This set is used in framing projects but not for fine wood working.

Sharpe ready to use very well made

Chisel worked well for a bit on the wood. Nice edges with which to cut and good slices through the wood. Then, as it didn't work so well, looked to find that the metal had chipped in multiple places! Will be returning, but sad that I have to.

I have 50 years as a professional engineer. These are the most dangerous manual tools I ever purchased. CANNOT BE USED SAFELY without steel chainmail gloves. The side cutter slices through Kevlar like it is not there. I have kept them because of the cost, but will never use again.

This thing is absolutely junk besides woodworking I do window replacement used it one time to take aluminum Phillips screw snap the head off and there's huge gouges in it this was supposed to replace my 15-year-old Craftsman pro chisel and I'm back to using that

Very sharp. Wasn't even aware. Was using decades old ones and these sliced through pine like butter. I like the dual edge.
