A:  This are side strike chisels, the aerated edge is for if you're trying to split a piece of wood out of the way. They have a heavier tang to with stand you hitting the side to aid in the removal process

A:  They really are made for wood. For grout you should use a grout saw or cold chisel

A:  Hi Joe T, This chisel set is designed for use with softer materials, such as wood, plastic, laminate and leather. Masonry could dull the sharp edge, thus making these chisels less effective. Cold Chisels are designed to be used on masonic materials, such as tile, brick and stone. Cold Chisels are a better choice when working with grout.
