This unit is being used to cool a third floor bedroom (that is 21x12 with a long hallway and bath included). It does a great job, remote works great, not too loud at all -

Great better then others for cheaper
I am someone who has tried over 10 different brands and none compare to this brand and unit. It comes completely ready no assembly with screws or anything. Just stick the side panel on and put in window. It also has lasted longer then its counter parts. I have 3 very furry dogs and the hair gets sucked in and the others broke but not this one. Also I have a living room converted to a bed room that's huge and it cools the whole room.

Excellent
Excellent machine, very efficeint, installed in less than 1 minute! Would like to have seen a picture of the power cord or had an option of which side it was on, but overall, an excellent machine!

Very pleased.
I was very happy with this purchase. The air conditioner cooled the house very well. It cooled more space than what the manufacturer suggested. Our power bill was lower than expected. It is fairly quiet. I am happy with this purchase.

Fantastic!!!
I purchased this A/C to replace a GE one that I purchased a few months ago that just could not put any cold air out. This unit is fantastic! Like many others here, I was not familiar with the SPT (Sunpentown International, Inc.) brand name, but they NOW have my attention and I will not hesitate to spread the word about them. I have owned an LG A/C in the past and it was a good product, but this one is by far the best I have come across in many years. I am very happy with this purchase!!

damaged unit
took a.c. out of box - noticed a huge dent on the back side of the unit - the box had no damage so someone must have dropped it putting it in the box - it was almost 100 degrees - I knew if I returned it I would be without a.c. for at least a week waiting for a replacement unit - plugged it in before putting it in the window - seemed to work fine - it's in my window - so far, so good...... you need to not ship items that are damaged

An excellent choice
This unit performs great. The options for running the unit are great and provides a stable temprature while keeping energy cost down. My only complaint is that I couldn't find one in a local store and had to have it shipped. It arrived quickly and without damage.

Excellent
We've got it cooling our kitchen, about 15 x 15, and an adjacent family room, a little bigger than that. We have "vaulted" ceilings, and we've been using this unit in the dead of August Summer in North Texas - a string of weeks over 100 F every single day and far into the night. The unit is so nice and compact and wonderful esp. when we cook in the kitchen, it really makes a big difference. We are very pleased with the unit. No problems whatsoever. We rough-calculated operating cost at about $1.00 per day running about 7 to 10 hours per day. It blows very, very strongly, too. Construction quality is very good.

Great overal value, quality, and install. Excellent SEER rating
I am using it in my attached 450 sqft garage with an uninsulated 16'x8' roll up door and attic. Two walls are interior to the house while the other walls are brick/garage door. It cools the garage down to a respectable low 80s/high 70s within a 2 to 3 hours which is impressive considering our Texas summers at over 100°F ambient temps. The remote is handy too.

Not an expert but have used window units for years and this one seems to do the job well and is of good quality.
Not an expert but have used window units for years and this one seems to do the job well and is of good quality. Is noisy as all are but no more than to be expected. Has good features and is easy to set and forget. Only time will tell on durability but expect to get my moneys return on this purchase.

So far, so good
I purchased this air conditioner in the middle of an epic heatwave to help cool off my one-bedroom attic apartment (appx 800 sq ft and very poorly insulated) and so far it is doing a decent job. The room the AC is in (appx 400 sq ft) stays nice and cool although the unit is sort of loud (but not any louder than I was expecting from a window AC). The stairwell and other two rooms (kitchen and bedroom) cool down a bit but I think a system of fans will help disperse the air further. The installation was made trickier by the low-quality installation of low-quality windows in my apartment so I think it would be easier in a better constructed home. I bought a support arm at the hardware store made for window AC units and that solved the installation problem easily. All in all, I would say this is a good unit and worth the money. I can't speak to the energy effeciency as I haven't received my electric bill yet.

So far so good.
The only thing I don't like about this unit is the size of the dispaly. You need to get close to read the displays. Does a good job cooling.

Excellent A/C Unit!
Although I've never heard the brand name of SPT, this A/C unit is surprisingly an excellent "work horse". This particular 12000 BTU unit easily cools 2 rooms--one large room 15x25 and one small 12x12! It was very easy to install! It took less than 20 minutes from unpackaging to securing in place in the window to power on. That's all there was to it! I love it and I'm extremely pleased with it. No more 91 degree room just before going to bed--it's now a comfortable 72 degree room! What a big difference!

best for my needs
needed help putting it in the window but it fits perfectly. It only took about 15 minutes to start cooling. It nicely cools my whole very warm upstairs apartment on the low setting. Highly recommend this unit.

Modern efficient A/C units
This unit is like all modern window a/c units. They all install and pretty much work the same. Oh, here's a quick tip for all the old heads who think there is too much water in the bottom of the unit, and that they need to drill more holes, to solve a perceived design flaw. Modern window a/c's are supposed to have water at the bottom, the fan is designed with blade extensions to sling the water on to the unit to help cool it, for more efficient operation. Drilling holes in the unit, will in most cases void the warranty.

This Unit has all of the features I expected to use.
This was a replacement for a older and lower rated unit and it works extremely well. The construction seems a bit cheap with the light material in the airflow vents area allowing outside light to come thru (and maybe mosquitos and small flying insects as well) but otherwise, it seems to be a very good unit.

This is a good product, works fine.
The features and performance are exactly as advertised. The side sliders to fit it in the window are a little short. We had to supplement the width with plywood to make up the difference but it's ok. We are satisfied with this choice.

Cool and quiet
Based on my installation a few days ago in a rental apartment this is a very good and affordable a/c unit. It cools and pushes an adequate amount of air, and is much quieter than the Frigidaire window a/c it replaced...an a/c unit that was only five years old. I did have to drill a couple drain holes since the fan blade was "lapping" up condensate water and the supplied drain hole is not in the lowest part of the pan...that's a stupid design flaw that takes 5 minutes to fix. Also, the unit had a few pieces of glue left over in the vent that when I first turned on the a/c they bounced around and startled me and my tenant...after turning off the unit and pulling out the big pieces it was ready to go and the tenant loves it.

I purchased the SPT 12,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner and is very pleased with it.
I am very satisfied so far with the SPT 12,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner I purchased. I have an area that is around 17'X26' with an adjorning hallway, bathroom and bedroom. The unit cools the whole area including another bathroom, den, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and living room. It can be felt in the entire house. It does not take a long time to feel the results. I am very pleased.

Works Well.
We bought this to repace a verry old AC... it seems a bit louder than the one we had, but over all it works well. I put it in myself, and I wouldn't recomend doing it alone... It is heavy, but doable.

Quick and easy install, easily cools a hot garage
We got this unit to cool the garage during the peak of the Summer months. Although larger than what this unit is supposedly intended to cool, the air in the garge would get 30 degrees cooler than it was when the unit was started within an hour or less. Installation was very easy. It could be done by anyone strong enough to lift the unit. The remote is a nice touch, although we don't use it. It notifies you when you need to clean the filter, which is a very slick thing.

    AWESOME!
Great air conditioner. I live in a 650 sq ft 1br and this cools down the whole place in less than an hour. It has a remote which is very convenient. It also has the energy saver mode which is great for night time. I was expecting a much higher energy bill than what I got! LOVE IT!

Good features, seems a little cheaply made
For the cost, this is a good product. We've had it installed for about a month now, no problems yet. However, after the first time I cleaned the filter, I can't get the front cover to fully shut. It seems like the filter isn't made quite right to fill in the opening properly. It's also kind of eerie how far into the unit you can see from the vents, but you get used to it. Overall, though, it's relatively quiet, keeps the place cool, and was not a pain to install.

    Does what it's supposed to
There seems to be a lot of discussion about how quiet this AC unit is. Perhaps I don't have enough experience with window mounted units but I don't think it's very quiet. I knew the low setting was rated at 55-60 Dba, which is a conversational level, and you can definitely carry on a conversation with it running without raising your voice but it's still quite loud. Normally the volume on our tv is set at "10-12" and with the AC unit, which sits next to the tv, we have to set the TV at around "20." Perhaps I had high expectations but it did not live up to the hype in this regard. The dehumidifying mode runs the AC compressor. I don't have any sort of relation to if it runs less than the AC setting on low or not. I imagine it would but no way to confirm. This mode helped sway us into buying the unit but, now that I have experience with it, it is no or little different than running the unit on the low setting. I would not use this mode as a deciding factor. As far as function, it works well. We have a room that runs electronics and is connected to our kitchen. We have been able to comfortably work and use our electronics without any issue. The kitchen sits at the opposite end of a "room" (great room: family and kitchen) that runs approximately 55'x16', with the stove top at the far end. The AC unit has no problem filling the room with cold air despite temperatures reaching 100 deg. recently. Our house is well insulated and it cools down the remainder of the downstairs as well. Summary: cooling ability: 10/10 sound:: 7/10 dehumidify mode: 3/10 overall: 8/10
