Very nice chairs/stools. The assembly (4) went along well with no problems in assembly or instructions. Packaging was very well done - we had no flaws or damage to any of the chair parts or hardware. We did use an allen socket on a ratchet for quicker assembly rather than the allen wrench provided with the hardware. As with any wooden furniture, time will tell the strength and durability of these stools but judging from the workmanship and sound assembly techniques used, these will without a doubt last a long time. (The assembly instructions recommend a periodic re-tightening the fasteners so don't allow them to become loose at all - quick death to this type of wooden assembly.) We rate these 'excellent' all around.

These classic bar stools are LARGE, very comfortable and sturdy. LARGE: The round seats are twenty inches diameter! The seat is thirty inches from the floor. Thanks to the smart ergonomic placement of the foot rails, even short people and children can reach the rails so feet don’t dangle. The seat swivels smoothly and silently on heavy duty ball-bearing flanges with massive steel plates. But they do NOT swivel loosely, thereby tempting children to spin themselves dizzy. Your kids will not be able to take free amusement rides on these, nor will grandparents have trouble standing. COMFORTABLE: These have thick padded seats and padded back-rests, made from foam using traditional upholstery techniques. Seats and back rests are covered in real thick durable leather and held by traditional brass tacks. These materials and techniques are well respected for durability and repairability. The feel and look is simultaneously rugged yet refined. STURDY: All chairs and stools support “live” loads so no normal chair can last forever. Smart designs like this one allows us to tighten joints as wood changes with seasons and over time. Traditional joinery plus modern design means these can always be easily maintained or repaired so they retain their looks and usefulness for decades, even generations! These are made from real solid wood! (not plywood, definitely Not particle board!) Unlike some other brands of assemble-it-yourself furniture, this clever design has real lap-joints where the legs meet the aprons, in addition to PAIRS of quarter-inch bolts at every intersection. Ask any experienced woodworker and he’ll tell you: “that combination is practically bomb proof!” All the other woodworking joints are classic time tested mortise-and-tenon joints that are permanently bonded at the factory. You need only assemble the legs to aprons, the seat to backs and then those two units together. It’s basically a three step assembly operation! Speaking of assembly… My wife and I LOVE these chairs so much, we ended up getting THREE of them because that’s how many we can fit around our new countertop. As always, the second assembly is easier and faster than the first. Please read these tips to make your purchase and assembly more enjoyable and easier. In photo #1 ( preparation ) you see the tools and layout I used to make assembly frustration free. All the mechanical fasteners come attached to that RED CARD inside blister packed plastic bubbles. You’ll need a utility knife or sturdy scissors to open each packet. Notice how I placed washers in rows for easy counting. One thing I love about the way they pack these is, they are all together on that card AND they supply you with extras! If they need 22 bolts, they give you 22 + 1. Same for washers. I wish all manufacturers would do that! They supply you with the single tool necessary: an allen wrench. However, that would take a long time and is not nearly as easy as using a small power drill with a hex bit. I used my trusty HUSKY ratchet drive and a very inexpensive RYOBI cordless driver. That makes assembly go FAST! Notice the instructions in the photo too. Those three square boxes show the three basic steps I mentioned. It really is as simple as 1-2-3. Another useful tip is to always read the instructions and preassemble washers to bolts. It’s amazing how having the washers already on the bolts speeds things up. Prepare everything in advance and you just grab and go. SAVE THE BOX! In Photo #2, you see a trick I think everyone should know! During the final (third) step there is a point where you must invert the chair to attach the seat-and-back assembly to the leg assembly. If you do not have a strong helper handy, then do as I did in the photo. Place the seat assembly upside down with the arms resting on the box! That makes it easy to attach the bottom with clear access to the mounting plate. With my little power driver, that takes only a minute! Finally, I thought you might like to see why we like these stools so much with an in-situ view. The stock photos are OK, but they cannot show you how great these look in person in your own home. Photo #3 shows what I consider the best use for these beautiful classic bar stools! ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING!!! Of the three stools we ordered, we had a minor problem with one that was possibly caused during shipping. I contacted HomeDepot by email and got a response in less than an hour after they opened for business that day! Jay (from HD) contacted the manufacturer for me, always CC-ing me in their emails. Danni (from the manufacturer, Safavieh) also contacted me and immediately solved that small problem, fast and free! Together they worked as a team to rectify the issue within 24 hours! That means the manufacturer and the seller support your investment with superb customer service. The combination of classic design, quality materials, traditional joinery and excellent service makes these a fine investment; an heirloom quality piece that will be enjoyed for generations.

But , the bar stools were too big for my bar.

Bought it because I wanted a strong chair that met the high table height I bought. It needed to be comfortable for a heavy person and have arm rests to enable a person to work on it for numerous hours. The seat had to be endured so the cushioning also needed to be supportive. This chair is meeting my criteria.

The instructions are TERRIBLE. Just simply wrong. I see complaints from years ago, and clearly they have not addressed the issues. Missing screws, placement of washers don't make logical sense, two screws were missing, etc.

Super high-quality and very sturdy furniture. The only issue I had is that they suggested time of assembly is listed as 10 minutes, and these took over an hour to assemble each chair. Very happy with the purchase overall and a handsome addition to our wet bar.

I LOVE these barstools! They are beautiful, heavily made and everything I have been searching for. My daughter has some that are very nice but I did not want to pay over $1,000.00 for 1 barstool! These look far better than hers! PERFECT!!!

It was not complicated to assemble. The quality is fine but you can tell it's not excellent quality. I would buy them again.

The screws were not long enough to put the chairs together

Love these (4) stools; however only one box contained all the needed screws and washers for assembly.

Outstanding value! This bar stool is durable, heavy duty (holds up to 275 lb person), well crafted and looks great at the kitchen counter. I found it easy to assemble, however like some other customers, some washers and a couple of screws were missing which required a visit to the hardware store. Even so I still awarded 5 stars due to the fantastic value, sturdiness and sheer beauty of the barstool.

Absolutely love this chair! After purchasing the first two we ordered two more! Very reasonably priced and excellent quality! Very classy for our bar!

Loved the look and feel of the chair, I bought it for a Father's day gift for my husband, he says it is too tall

All the washers and screws were not there in either chair I bought. Beautiful chairs. I have to take apart the first chair and add the parts I had to buy at the hardware store to put it back together.

Ordered 3 to replace 3 older stools. Very frustrating putting together and all 3 had missing screws/washers. Also, these stools are huge. An adult looks like a kid sitting in them and now they are crammed together at my bar.

Love these bar stools the seats are big and comfortable.

Slightly cumbersome to assemble, but the end result is beautiful. I believe the anticipated 10 min assembly time is a bit overreaching given the tools that are sent for assembly. Give yourself at least 20 per chair...

The finish on the wood is poor. ruff in some spots..

Love the chairs only problem had some bolts and washers missing. But we resolve the problem buying them.

One of the legs had a knot in it when my husband got on it - the leg broke and we just returned all three this past weekend. We do not want the last one of course. Very disappointed and glad my husband is alright. It took me a whole day each to put those blasted things together with the allen

The photo of the item online is exactly what was delivered to my home. However the instructions that came with the item was not clear or thorough. With the item being of high quality you would think they would take the time to attach some instructions that were clear and concise. Other than that the chair is amazing and of good quality. Thank you for having this product!
