Very impressed!
This is our first experience with a window a/c unit & looked at several different brands, but when we saw the Quirky + GE we were sold. And we have not been disappointed! It is very effective at cooling, looks nice & is easy to control with our phones. The app tracks our usage so we always know how much electricity the a/c has used. We can leave it on a higher temp setting while we're gone & start cooling our home a little while before we get back. I have read that other people don't like the noise level &/or the lighted display (too loud & too bright) - we like the white noise, but it doesn't seem to be louder than the a/c units our friends have. The light is only displayed for a minute or so & no brighter than a digital alarm clock. We're very happy with it & planning on buying a 2nd one for the living room!

Connectivity is awesome, operation is just ok
I love the connectivity but the unit is loud and doesn't have a vent from outside option on the fan (only recirculates air) and that is something I have always treasured on cool nights since opening my windows is just a bit inconvenient with traffic noise. Venting on the top posed a challenge with my blinds, I had to buy an adjustable vent deflector and attach it to the unit or the air would go behind my blinds. As a flight attendant I love the connectivity when I am away from home. Smart devices make me happy but I am hoping for more options in the future. Also minimum temperature setting is 64 degrees and honestly at night I prefer cooler setting. (Woman of a certain age just like to sleep in a walk in freezer) I have a thermometer in my bedroom and the unit has never cooled below 67 degrees. Side curtains do gap as others have stated.

    Interesting Concept, Revisions Needed
My initial frustration was with poorly written set up instructions. The parts that hook the side curtains (thankfully included with the unit) are not even mentioned in the manual. You are completely on your own to figure out installation, not easily I might add. When you are done, there are gaps and air leaks that need to be addressed. The economy "eco" mode simply means that after a period of continuous duty, despite the set temperature, the unit will not cycle on until the room gets so hot you're ready to hang yourself. The "current temperature" displayed seems to be way off on the wink app and on the unit. Hopefully these issues will be addressed with an over the air software update which I've been told the unit is capable of receiving, thus the "smart technology". Everything aside, the unit does cool down the room when it runs.

      Great unit, efficient in cooling.
I have read mixed reviews, this unit has worked great for my bedrooms, I have bought four, two I had problems connecting to the wink app, took me three days of trying until I was able to pair it. Now all four units I am able to control remotely. At times the green light would kept on blinking, its kinda annoying especially at night. I have replaced the side extenders with closed cell foam for better insulation and to prevent bugs from coming in. All in all the product is what I was looking for, modern looking design, the cool air exits the unit in an upward and 45 degree angle, helps prevent cool air from being sucked in again by the intake.

      Wicked Chill
I read the reviews here so I prepared to expect the worst. This AC has the same performance as my 20 year old Sharp that finally died. Only the aros has a better compressor. The fan is fairly powerful and loud but all I hear is the whoosh of air. It starts and stops the fan at full speed on auto mode or what aros calls eco mode. I had to pair the aros twice to get the wink app to complete successfully. The touch buttons on the front of this unit are hard for me to see but that is where the app shines and is the whole reason I bought it. The built in temp sensor on the aros displays in the wink app separately so you can check on the room temp at home without having the ac engaged. It is just what I wanted and better than I expected. The team at the Hyannis home Depot we're really nice and went out of their way to make our holiday weekend ready for the hot weather expected in the weather for cast. I do not recommend this product because no one else in the house likes this ac unit but me. They all have different reasons.

        Look elsewhere
I wanted to like this AC. I really did. But, I didn't. It really isn't as good as it looks. It is rough, loud and just plain doesn't do all that well. The thing didn't break in the 4 months I needed, but it just didn't perform any better than another cheap AC. This one had an app, true, but other than turning on the AC remotely, it had zero advantage over one that is cheaper. When I bought mine, I read reviews that said the same thing. I bought it anyway. If you want to have a connected home, keep looking. The Qurky Aros is a poor choice for getting connected.

        Great product
I love the smart app! The air conditioner works great for what it is, I sealed the sides and it works even better. Very convenient since I'm always at school or working I can turn on the air condition when I'm on my way home. The cost is super efficient as well!

Terrible AC and Terrible Customer Service for Too Much Money
We were very excited to get the Aros AC, a partnership with Wink / Quirky products. As cool looking and awesome of an idea it is, the product is awful. Problem 1, it started turning on when we were not home. Problem 2, we noticed the room was not cold, and basically it became an expensive and large fan. Problem 3, which is be biggest of them all, Wink / Quirky customer service is AWFUL. Both problems 1 and 2 could have been solved quickly and painlessly, instead the customer server people totally dropped the ball. Promises of replacing our AC, but no follow up, many many calls by myself and by boyfriend, nada. Then when we would get someone they would assure us they will help resolve the issue, then never follow up or confirm when the new AC would arrive. In a few words....the product is cool, but the customer service is beyond terrible.

          Best Window A/C Unit Ever
I was initially skeptical of the Quirky air conditioner after reading some of the negative reviews on Amazon and elsewhere. After purchasing, setting up and using the unit, boy was I wrong. The unit is cost effective, easy to install and configure, a breeze to use manually and with our smartphones, and most important works well. The unit is the same form factor as other window air conditioning units in its calls, no bigger or smaller or lighter or heavier. It is very well packaged and easy to remove from the box. The set up instructions are s snap to review. One person can complete the install in under an hour but two people would make it easier. For those who complained about it fitting in the window, it's a smaller sized 8,000 btu unit. As with all window a/c's, one must meaure the window opening prior to purchase. You wouldn't buy a xxxl t-shirt if you wear a small. We have standard double hung windows and it installed with no issues. Again, as with any window a/c install, if you want to make it look and function as it was built into your home or apartment then your gonna have to caulk the edges after installation. I am not very good with handy work but this was easy to do after speaking with employees from Home Depot. After it's in the window joining your home wireless network was easy, and Quirky's customer service is second to none (polite, knowledgeable, and timely) in explaining that it runs on the 2.4 standard frequency (not 5.0 ghz). Any problems people complained about in this regard are probably due to their weak network signal or configurations on their router. Again, if you have basic skills in installing and configuring a home router (plug and play), you'll be fine here. Using it is simple and where the Quirky shines and makes the investment worthwhile. You can set it to Eco mode and still effectively cool a room because the unit turns the fan on and off to conserve energy. You can also set it to turn on and off when you enter the room its located in (better for those who carry their smart phones). Setting a schedule is also easy to do with the app (Wink) on your smartphone. The unit will begin to remember patterns in your behavior and set it self on or off to save money using that pattern. What is really great is that the unit's thermostat works and works great. For example, we set it to 74 degrees over night and Eco mode (We live in New York where its been over 90 degrees all week) and the unit is located in a second story bedroom where our baby will eventually sleep. It kept the room comfortable to sleep all night and was not on all night. As for noise complaints, the unit emits a somewhat deeper sound that conventional units but in my opinion, no louder. My wife is very sensitive to noise and had absolutely no issues with the noise. The lights on the front of the unit, if you reprogram it manually stay on for 60 seconds or less then power off so that's not an issue. The most important thing about a window a/c to me is is it going to save me money. In my opinion the Quirky will save us money because it forces us to think about how and when we use energy which in turns helps us make better energy decisions. This is a great idea, well designed and even better implemented. I would highly recommend it to everyone out there who has a need to cool a space but lacks central air conditioning.

          Good value for the money
Not sure what people expect, it is a sub $300 window air conditioner. The execution isn't perfect but for the money, it performs reasonably. Pros: Firmware updates reduce the LED brightness/delay as well as lower the audible tone Looks better than any window AC I've ever seen Noise isn't as bad as people lead you to believe. Maybe it is because the unit blows up (towards your face if you're standing over it vs towards your waist with a front blowing unit). There are also fan speeds that definitely help with the noise. I've had reasonably solid performance with the app but never used the location feature. No gaps on my install, maybe it is user error. Cons: Buggy with 802.11n... I know for sure that it will not run off of the 5ghz spectrum, I believe it might not support N at all but I can't confirm that since my router supports 802.11g. It was a pain to setup but luckily all I had to do was switch my iPhone to the 2.4ghz network just to pair the Aros and then I could switch my phone back to the 5ghz and it would still control the unit (as it would from any wifi/cellular network) Would be nice if their were other size options but that is understandable for a first release Lack of customization on the app (should be able to set LED brightness/delay, audible volume) Buttons on face are difficult to see because they are designed to blend in to faceplate Communication between the app and unit can be buggy, for instance when setting the temperature, often the unit doesn't respond to every button press. Say you go from 78 to 72... sometimes the app will go down to 72 but the unit will stick at say 73 (the app will update to reflect this seconds later). The app should tell the unit to match what it has on the screen instead of the unit overriding the app. I guess this is done so that someone can manually set the temperature on the faceplate and have the app update to that figure. It probably could be corrected with some simple programing delays. All in all it is a good solution especially for someone who lives in a small apartment by themselves. No need to run the AC when you aren't home... just having the remote capability is enough for me. I'm sure some minor tweeks could make this a great buy.

          not worth it
pros: easy to install, app was convenient to turn on or adjust temp also had a nice expence and usage graph that could estimate cost per month. cons: app is glitchy sometimes it would work others you have to keep entering your settings, if u loose wifi manual control was difficult, after 3 weeks of use it stoped working completely returned to get money back

            it works
right now i'm only giving it 4 stars because we haven't had time to test out all of the apps features. once connected, our phones can control the unit but we haven't had a chance to try the scheduling portion or allow it to learn our habits. we really liked that the unit was stylish compared to the other regular ac units. only drawback was the instructions, you need to install the app first to get all the information you need...like what the different colors of flashing lights mean.

              Great Concept - Poor Design
The unit is louder than a conventional 8000BTU window A/C. The side wings do not seal and leave huge gaps for bugs to enter. The android app just won't connect or function properly. The LED lights are ugly and do not appear as smooth and nice as in the photos. I found that a conventional A/C for less money was a much greater value. Also, there is no remote so if the APP did work you'd have to unlock your phone, open the app, and then find the setting before any changes occurred. Just a poorly executed design overall and not worth one's time.

              Love my new AC!
I purchased this new wall mounted air conditioner at the Manhattan Home Depot store after I saw a TV ad promoting the product. The install was pretty easy, took me about an hour including taking out my old window AC. I can control my AC directly through my phone! So cool! I've started turning it on about an hour before I get home so the apartment is cold before I get home. I have a pretty small apartment and the AC cools the room very nicely. I haven't used the feature that allows me to set adjust the AC to the max electric bill I want so can't comment on that feature. Great product for the price!
