The bottom of the post cap does not reach to the edges of a post. But it looks good if you don’t examine it too closely. I needed them to supplement mistakes made by another who could not provide gothic posts (which Home Depot does carry).

We were very confused to find that a product called “4 in x 4 in posts” did not in fact measure 4in x 4in. They were about 3 inches. If you look in the details, it says they measure 2.75. Perhaps these should have a different name?

Good wood, poor screw placement
The wood is high quality and doesn't look like it is going to split any time soon. However, the screw that comes out of the bottom isn't perfectly centered, nor does it come out straight relative to the axis of the post cap. Just screwing it into the post would result in the finial not laying flush with the post. So, I had to drill a hole in the post wider than the screw so it would lay flush and apply copious quantities of glue. Despite these frustrations, this is the only reasonably priced wood Gothic post finial I could find and the end result looks great, so I would recommend it.

Good Product for the Price
Fine for what it is, but does require a lot of finish work if you want it to look nice and the quality is random.

Overall Hard to Say anything but OK
The Gothic Post Tops were decent quality however 3 of the screws were placed at an angle when they were made so I had to remove them and straighten them up. A little frustrating because there is not much room for error when it comes to drilling new holes in a small surface such as these. I am satisfied with the rest of the product though. Be prepared, you will need to take some time to sand them, very rough cuts. Worked great for my project in the long run.
